7. Well, honestly it was always a possiblity.

Unless Fox was willing to go completely down that same rabbit hole, they were likely going to lose viewers to more extreme versions of themselves. Just like when a pretty woman thinks that the guy she is cheating with won't leave her for someone else, there is always someone else who will go further than you.

This is the hole that conservatives are digging. They cannot stop shifting to the extreme or they will lose their base. The only way is for them to give up power, rethink their politics, and join the moderate mainstream, but that will set them back decades.
