Even though I try to stay away from there I went there this evening. After hearing my sister had covid-19 February yesterday and my brother getting tested for it today I was trying to be careful. I got stuck in check out with no stick mask ahead of me which I tried to stay away from until people got behind me the same way 2 of them and proceeded to move right up to me. Tried to Middle my distance but it kept getting less and less until they actually bumped into me. I told him my brother just got tested my sisters had it I'm trying to be careful and it didn't seem to phase him at all they moved back about 6-8 in. I just don't think people realize how deadly serious this diseases so basically I feel like I'm tape taking my life into my own hands if I go back in that store.

(21,102 posts)It's a 35 dollar minimum and a very reasonable delivery fee. I consider it our anti-covid surcharge.

(3,037 posts)It is awesome. They scaled up. Avoid the stores. The benefits and lower risks are there for my family.

(21,102 posts)because of the prices. A lot of us cannot afford to do otherwise, despite what some think.

(16,834 posts)I always order the night before and go pick it up the next morning. Don't know how much notice they need before they get your order ready. There's no fee for the service and they won't let you tip them.

(10,414 posts)I rarely eat at a chain restaurant, almost never. I try to get everything I possibly can at local stores, not national chains. It's usually the same price or only a little higher.

(56,996 posts)... has been very good about enforcing masks the couple of times I've gone.

(64,827 posts)There's one about 18 miles west & another 20 miles southeast. The latter is in a county with a COVID wildfire, so I go to the store in the less populated county.
They have an employee out there enforcing masks since April. I went late yesterday afternoon for pet supplies & juice because I was already out that direction.
They now have a city COP(!) enforcing the rules. A cop!
That store manager isn't fooling around.
I even heard the cop tell someone to pull their mask up over their nose!
She's the same cop I saw at the high school when I subbed there.

(34,195 posts)They don't just deliver groceries.
I had a portable electric space heater recently delivered along with my groceries.
Other times I've ordered toiletries, a pillow, a blanket, towels, bed linens, a computer printer, etc.
Locally DoorDash delivers for them.

(29 posts)In Houston, at several locations, including the one I use, you can order online and they bring it out to the car when you arrive. Some have inside the store pickup, but you pay online and do not need to go through checkout.

(412 posts)Being from Minneapolis, I like to support the hometown team, and I really like that they were so committed to the community that they totally rebuilt the Target store in my neighborhood after it was destroyed in the unrest earlier this year. They scored a lot of brownie points for doing that.

(8,166 posts)My prejudices suggested that the situation you experienced is what I would experience if I went there. I have other reasons I won't get into here as they are based on the location of the stores and the type of customer who frequents the stores, though it relates to your story indirectly.

(204,670 posts)I pick up my prescriptions there - and there's a barrier between the customer and the pharmacist so you can't get too close. And all the aisles are one-way with markers on the floor at least six-feet apart if you're waiting in line.

Were surrounded by idiots in some areas I guess.

(33,992 posts)Expressly ask them to step back. These people don't take a hint - you have to be blunt - and at least asking for distance seems to be less volatile than asking them to wear a mask. I go directly to management about fialure to wear masks.

(20,567 posts)There are too many customers at Walmart who don't respect themselves or others and wear a mask and social distance. One of their checkers posts on my Next Door and she has made it clear she thinks taking precautions is just fearmongering. Her husband wears a mask with the section over the nose and mouth cut out.

(14,852 posts)It's been very fast and convenient every time until my latest order last week... with a four-hour wait! (It mostly looked like their employees refused to help with pick-up that day more than anything else. Or perhaps many employees were sick and others were only "trained" to retrieve carts?)
Regardless, perhaps try pick-up instead as others suggested.

(111,124 posts)because they're enforcing masks throughout the store, stockers telling people to pull the mask up when they see dick noses or chin diapers. Compliance is pretty good. Unfortunately, the disease is really spreading quickly here. Other businesses are going to have to tighten up--over 20 groceries have been closed for 2 weeks because a percentage of their staff have tested positive.
I guess morons gonna mo or something, nothing seems to faze an ignorant arsehole who thinks he knows it all cause he watches Pox.

(58,785 posts)which most observe. That said, Saturday I ordered a new medication there to get it fast and cheap, and when I walked in to pick it up the place was packed with shoppers. Bad time! Saw a lot of children in cute little masks.
Checking out with some veggies, though, I got the only woman who wasn't distancing come up right behind me, masked but talking animatedly on her phone. I waved her back twice, she finally exasperatedly stepped back a bit, then forward again, so I turned my cart around and put that between us with about 2 inches to spare, then and added another couple steps of distance on my side. Dirty look! I like to think mine was merely stern.
