Who would they hire to do this? The Proud Boys? Thankful on this day, we will have a new president on Jan 20th

One proposal has raced through the process with little notice but unusual speed and deadly consequences. This rule could reintroduce firing squads and electrocutions for federal executions, giving the government more options for administering capital punishment as drugs used in lethal injections become unavailable. The Justice Department surfaced the proposal in August and accepted public comments for only 30 days, instead of the usual 60. The rule cleared White House review on Nov. 6, meaning it could be finalized any day. The Justice Department didnt respond to a request for comment.
Once finalized, this rule might never be put into practice. The Trump administration executed a federal prisoner in Indiana on Nov. 19 and plans five more executions before Jan. 20, all with lethal injections. After that, Biden has signaled he wont allow any federal executions and will push to eliminate capital punishment for federal crimes.

(5,122 posts)The way this justice department has operated under Trump. I agree with folks who have said some of these last minute changes are meant to hamstring the Biden administration. As the article said, this is not going to happen. Biden takes over on Jan 20th. Other last minute policy changes will not be so easy to overcome.

(17,519 posts)It reminds me of a scary movie I watched as a kid. You know it was scary when you remember it 60 years later.
An entrepreneur back in the fist days of the electric chair, built a portable system that he could take state to state to carry out the executions. As I remember, he was very proud of how efficient his system was. Low and behold, if the man did not end up in his own chair for murderous he committed along the way.

(17,519 posts)It is environmentally friendly, (operated by hand) it is quick, effective and reported to be painless, and if done publicly, you could sell tickets and concessions. It's just good business.

(22,023 posts)Let's have firing squads for executions. In fact, let's televise them. If the country wants to support capital punishment, we should make those killings public. Don't hide them. Don't make them "merciful." If we're going to authorize the government to kill prisoners in our names, let's see it implemented.
Of course, treason should be punishable by death. Hmm. How many of the Trump administration could be guilty of treason? As I wrote, maybe Trump has a good idea here.

(5,304 posts)But Joe and his competent cabinet and staff us uniquely qualified to take on the task and clean up the mess. I have confidence that we'll come out of this just fine. Even more confident if we can pull an upset and get those two Senate seats in Georgia.
