Former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne left behind a cloud of confusion when he resigned in 2019 from the internet retailer hed founded after panicking investors with his bizarre claims that he had romanced a Russian agent at the behest of Men in Black working for the United States government.
Now hes back, with what he has described as his own personal army, touting what he claims is proof that Democrats stole the election from Donald Trump.
Ive funded a team of hackers and cybersleuths, other people with odd skills, Byrne said in a Tuesday interview at One America News, where OAN personality Chanel Rion praised Byrne as the head of an elite shadow cyber security team.
As Trumps chances of securing a second term dwindle down to nothing, Byrne has launched a media tour to promote his mysterious hacker team, appearing from an undisclosed location on OAN, Newsmax, and a series of far-fringe YouTube shows associated with the QAnon conspiracy theory movement. On Friday, a guest host on the popular Rush Limbaugh talk radio show praised Byrnes allegations about voter fraud and proposed inviting Byrne on the show.
With Trump allies on his legal team and in conservative media scrambling for any evidence that Trump didnt legitimately lose the presidential race, Byrne has become a hero to the MAGA crowd, despite his history of making off-the-wall allegations.
Byrne claims hes funding teams of hackers and crackers who realized all the way back in August that Dominion voting machines could be used to steal the election from Trump. Since the election, those voting machines have figured prominently in Trump supporters allegations of fraud, despite the companys repeated denials and any actual proof the voting tallies were changed.

(3,010 posts)This is our moment to be free of these machines once and for all. They'll cry foul and say "NOOO NOOO we only meant the DOMINION machines, not ES&S, those are trustworthy!" Republicans are doing our work for us. Let's be smart and take advantage of this one.

(7,769 posts)...print out the ballot after you fill it out so they leave a paper trail.
You can check your ballot to make sure that the machine recorded it properly and that ballot is then handed to an election worker in case the vote needs to be audited.
That is why the Cons hate them. They are auditable.

(22,097 posts)And this guy's claim, I have a team of hackers and crackers who prove that hacking occurred and vote tallies changed? Just how in the world (when the manufacturer themselves said that vote tallies couldn't be changed) will this idiot prove (1) that someone broke into what? a database of some sort or each individual voting machine to hack the votes? (2) who in the world is going to let an unknown group of hackers, supposedly SMEs at hacking etc. (yeah, right), go back, track millions of communications pathways, track 10s of thousands of voting machines used across the entire country and determine that fraud happened, blah blah blah?
Byrne is an idiot and doesn't know what in the hell he's talking about...I've been around in IT and the data network world dealing w/ thousands of point of sale devices, and this is not as easy as he seems to make it out to be. All he's doing is trying to take advantage of these idiots and make a fast buck. That's it.
