VPE Harris asked about Trump running in 2024: "Please," she said, and broke out laughing.

Edward-Isaac Dovere @IsaacDovere 1h
Just now in DC, I asked @KamalaHarris if, with President Trump making motions about running again in 2024, Biden and she would be ready to face him again if he follows through.

She made a scoffing sound. “Please,” she said, and broke out laughing.

We didn't think America would vote him in the first time, but with psy-ops help from Russia and right-wing media, MAGAvangelicals in the pulpit, and an extra helping of vote suppression, he became President in 2016. 2020 was closer than any sane person would have expected. By 2024 republicans will be saying Trump single-handedly cured Covid-19 and is on the way to curing cancer if only the American people will give him and his 4th wife 4 more years to do that AND fix the economy. Of course, given Michelle Obama's experience in the rightwing crosshairs, we already know the special treatment republicans intend to give Kamala Harris over the next 4 years.

Is it possible Trump will threaten war or some other catastrophe act unless he gets a global pardon by all relevant state and federal prosecuting authorities? Dunno. There is already much talk about moving on for the good of the nation and yada yada yada. And could Trump then AGAIN cause republicans to cower in fear of the wrath of his Tweets such that they would proudly sport a MAGA 2024 hat, along with the evangelicals who are still crying and telling their flock Satan has somehow won and God is now angry that . . . yada fucking yada . . .

Can Trump win in 2024? You betcha.

He lost in 2020 by 8 million votes, and in 2016 by 2.8 million. If Trump is looking for another ass whoopin', he'll run in 2024.

The question is whether Trump can lose by 9 million votes in 2024 and STILL win. I think I'm just done underestimating red states and their willingness to embrace the bottom of the barrel.

...I think most of us would laugh out loud at the suggestion Kamala Harris should be worried about Trump 2024 at this point, or as far as I'm concerned, any other time.

Let the fool try. He'll be well under the law by then.

I saw a lot of those LOL posts when "concern trolls" were saying all wasn't so rosy in 2016. Here is one of the more salient threads: https://upload.democraticunderground.com/12512567255

...spending the transition worrying out loud about what Trump might do when he leaves office? That's not what I expect from this presidency.

Laughter is the only correct response to the question asked, or any suggestion that Democrats should allow themselves to be distracted by yet another ill-conceived stunt by the disgraced loser.

Some laughed in November 2016 and they laughed at pizzagate and laughed when some said we might not take the Senate in 2020 and were outraged at the idea that we could lose seats in the house. Laughter and complacency have bitten us in the ass enough times that one would think we'd learn by now.

Believe it or not, Biden and Harris can multi-task. They can prepare for the transition AND note that yes, if democrats don't vote, anything could happen, including Trump's re-election. I suspect, though, that the same people who called Trump's 2016 run a stunt would comfortably sit back and smirk that his 2024 run would also be a stunt. I guess there's a certain comfort in that.

...we don't need to give credence to a Trump run to be prepared to win in 2024.

What we need to do is focus on this transition, on the Biden presidency, and not let ANYONE distract us from that effort.

The stupidest thing we could do right now is treat anything Trump says he'll do with any seriousness. When Trump leaves office, he should be ignored, no one should be hanging on his every word or rumor (we never should have), but I'm certain the temptation to keep playing his little games will be irresistable for some.

And btw, we were confident, and we won. I know there this effort to diminish that win, but it was significant, it was substantial, and we may well take the Senate majority. You can wear a hair shirt from here to 2024 and you'll get little more than a rash for your worry and fear.
