6. I would posit that actual mainstream Republicans

and I'm talking those that never in their lifetime voted for a democrat-but could no longer bring themselves to vote for Trump- and those who occasionally went for a few down ticket dems, that all those voters subconsciously compensated by more strongly supporting every other GOP candidate on the ticket. That would explain the GOP congressional pickups and why people even they know are scum being re-elected.
