First lady Melania Trump unveils 2020 White House Christmas decorations

First lady Melania Trump unveiled the 2020 White House Christmas decorations on Monday morning. The display, which Trump named "America the Beautiful," pays tribute to "the majesty of our great Nation."

Photos showed the White House residence decorated with several ornately decorated Christmas trees and other winter themes.

In a tweet, the first lady said that volunteers "from all across America" decorated the White House over the weekend. "Thank you for your time, enthusiasm & devotion to make sure the spirit of peace & joy fill the historic rooms & halls of the People's House!" Trump said.

The 2020 display was also her first since recordings leaked in October of her dismissing her work in decorating the White House. "I'm working ... my a** off on the Christmas stuff, that you know, who gives a f*** about the Christmas stuff and decorations? But I need to do it, right?" the first lady said in recordings leaked to CNN.

I don't understand the need for quite that many trees, with quite that many blazing lights, but they're traditionally tasteful for the most part. The hand colored decorations made by children was a sweet touch. Whoever is responsible (doubtful it's Melania) did a nice job.

But I doubt that she had much to do with it this year.

Her style seems more like the Christmas from Hell - House of Horror decorations that she did in 2017.

for the WH Christmas trees, to keep them busy and to get their minds off their parents, wherever they may be.

I would be that she is just ecstatic that this whole presidency is over. I am sure she hated every minute of it. She just wants to get her money, her son and hit the road. Anything to be away from HIM!

Just getting all the fresh base swags wired together, the trees up, etc... Probably a separate team. Then a team of professional decorators hired for the actual design and execution. Very expensive.

Much like the videos done with Bo (and later Sunny) Obama, and Barney and Miss Beazley Bush. I also look forward to once again having decorations that have some thought put into them, instead of just slapping up as many trees as possible, to make it look like they actually care.

I failed: it looks like a Christmas tree lot with decorated trees. Maybe it’s because the video was done so poorly. I just feel like I am walking through a lot to pick out a tree.

The biggest difference: people. Michelle Obama included lots of people, volunteers and visitors in the videos from Christmases past. Her decor is cozy and homey, an invitation to the "people's house."

I realize this year is different but in the previous 3 years, Melania is nearly always alone and the overall vibe is emptiness and devoid of feeling.

I'm sure I speak for millions in being so glad this "presidency" is coming to an end.

There is an Air Force One ornament. It's a little 747 painted in the AF1 livery. Kinda cute, actually.

And it's the livery on the plane when Trump started squatting in the White House, not the one that looks like he's trying to make the people's airliner look like Donald Trump's B757.

He and his partner have a really popular wreath making business in Louisiana. He is really good. And their mail order business is hugely successful.

His name is Damon Oates if you happen to catch him. That's probably why things are looking better.

Their business is called Deco Exchange.
