My pandemic story

All,

Some you here know me most do not. I am Paul, and I am 61, I have a member here since the second week of the site starting, but I I am a lurker not a prolific poster.

I have been out of work due to the virus since August. I was working on a large engineering project that was stopped when the virus came on in the summer. Last week I spoke to my manager the project is restarting but with all former high paying work being outsourced to the low cost engineering center in India. These high paying jobs are not coming back to the USA.

Well to make a long story short, unless something happens this week I will be out of of food and internet. I will be grateful for any suggestions or help you may have. I am waiting to be approved for food stamps. So hopefully this is a temporary condition. Until then if anyone can help I would be very appreciative and would gladly repay any favors when I get back on my feet. Thank you for your time in reading this.

I know the church down the street from me supports seniors in the area with food care packages.

here on the west coast of Floriduh people are waiting in line for an architectural stamp for their home remodeling plans. I don't know what type of engineering you do but free lance drawings that meet the SBCCI would get you eating.

I’m also 61 and have been out since March. My unemployment will end soon. I apply to everything I find but I get no responses. I’m convinced that it’s at least in part my age. I have my resume tailored to show my strengths and it doesn’t show my full work history (so as not to give away the age), but a simple google search will generally give someone’s approximate age if you have a geographic area.

I’m scared and I’m just trying to hold on to see what Biden can do. Feels like January 20th will never get here. Just wanted you to know that you’re not alone.
