(10,269 posts)Mitch can piss off with this. Hes trying to get this passed so he can be done with it before he might lose his majority in Jan.

(25,237 posts)With McConnell and the Repugs turning their backs on the regular person - the Dems should use that as a mechanism to win back the Senate in the Jan 5th election.
The Georgia Campaign for these seats should tell the People of Georgia that if the Dems win those two seats in Georgia that the Biden Administration and the Dems will immediately be passing a Covid Relief Plan that will include $1200.00 stimulus checks for All Americans.
In essence - if they elect these two Democratic Candidates they will benefit financially from their vote and be able to pay rent and buy food.
If they - instead - elect even one of the Repugs - the Repugs will still be able to prevent any stimulus checks and the regular people will get nothing as McConnell and the Repugs will not be helping them during this Covid crisis that is putting a crunch on their finances.
It's been said that people vote their pocketbooks. This is an opportunity to use their pocketbooks for the good of the whole country - not only on this Covid Relief Plan - but every major issue that could benefit the regular person that will be coming up in the next four years.

(23,935 posts)McConnell's goal seems to be setting POTUS Biden up for a huge fail by selling out Americans: get us all nice and desperate, since the December benefits are barely enough to keep people housed, and then, after Trump is gone, blame Biden for the fallout as people starve and lose their homes.
right now, if i'm Speaker Pelosi, this "plan" is a non-starter. unfortunately, we have vaccines to deploy, which requires funding. the best chance is if we can win both GA senate races -- a real long-shot. second best would be win one GA seat and Sen. McConnell gets a nasty case of COVID and passes on so gov. Beshear can appoint an adequate replacement -- somewhat more likely, imo. otherwise, we're looking at some severely-damaging-yet-absolutely-necessary budget compromises in our future.

(3,493 posts)Based on what they pay into the federal coffers. Make it block grants given to each state based on county-level contributions. If your state contributes little in federal taxes, then you get less. Gotta take "socialism" head on.

(7,534 posts)Terminating unilateral lending authority for Biden's Fed/Treasury. This smacks of red states neutering their new Dem governors. The article linked to by the above poster on the bi-partisan bill is behind a paywall, so I don't know for sure if the liability shield and the sleazy Treasury restrictions are also included in the bi-partisan plan...I should hope not as that would be beyond the Pale for a Democratic member of Congress.
