I guess you'd get a fine if you were stopped for some other violation, but I doubt that many people get stopped for not wearing a seatbelt. So yeah, not wearing a mask would probably be enforced with the same vigor.

One cop standing near a stop sign looking in cars and one up the road flagging people down to write a ticket.

It can happen if a police officer spots someone, especially at say, a DUI or license checkpoint, or even if an officer spots you driving down the road. If you have an accident and aren't wearing your seatbelt, there can be legal consequences too especially if a driver allowed passengers not to have seatbelts on and someone is killed or injured.

The laws against unrestrained children are also definitely enforced, and we don't see too many people putting babies loose into cars anymore without child safety seats.

But spreading a lethal disease isn't seen as biological terrorism if republicans do it....

But yes, any municipality, state or the federal government could require them much like seat belt laws or nudity laws. Even that ignores the risk to others aspect.

I believe there are a few cities that impose fines for not wearing masks in public. Maybe even a state like California.

They are a distinct minority, but they exist nonetheless...
Problem is you can't fix stupid with a law or it would have been done by now.

You CAN shame them, isolate them and make it very uncomfortable for them to be in public without addressing the public safety and health of innocent people.

You CAN remove them from public spaces if they refuse to comply with business policies inside private businesses too...otherwise, Jeff Spicoli would have never had a problem with Brad Hamilton...

not a guy with bad lungs just sucking down air. Plus a test, if positive fine triples, next offense is considered a felony (assault).

That's my back of the napkin solution?

Just get your state legislature to write and pass a law that requires people to wear masks, and get your governor to sign it.

never have been law. Road deaths would be a hoax. It would be a sign of weakness. It would be an attack on freedom. It would be a threat to masculinity. And people who wear a seatbelt would be mocked.

Couple with coronavirus arrested after boarding San Francisco flight to Hawaii

A Hawaii couple was arrested after boarding a flight despite having tested positive for the coronavirus, KTLA sister station KHON in Honolulu reported Tuesday.

The couple, from Wailua, Kauai, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of reckless endangerment after getting on a flight traveling from San Francisco to Lihue.

If not wearing a mask could also be characterized as "reckless endangerment" then perhaps it could be established as an illegal act.
