during the trials. If we only have 30 million doses after all of these months it will be a very long time before the vaccine is going to do any good for the country. I am elated that healthcare workers will get it, but it is more and more dangerous for the rest of us. I am forced into an office with at least 20 other people everyday. Anyone here gets infected we are all going to get it from breathing the air even if we are not near the infected person.

(102,234 posts)Even when we start getting vaccines into the general public--sometime next year, these measures are still going to be necessary for some time to come.

(102,234 posts)consider purchasing a HEPA filtration unit (some are quite small) that you can use on your desk/cubicle/office to increase some ventilation. Yeah, THEY should purchase, but in reality, no one seems to worry about our safety but ourselves (and I say that as a HCW). OSHA has been totally inactivated during COVID.
I personally am sensitive to all the alcohol-based hand sanitizers and chemical disinfectants so I invested in a UV-C box to disinfect my masks and cell phone and a UV-C wand to use on keyboards and surfaces. And, while I still use sanitizers and chemical disinfectants, I try to preserve my hands with soap and water wash instead as much as possible.

(16,844 posts)y'all are able to be distant enough from each other! If not, you need to be working from home or outside or some other option. Whatever you're doing is not worth dying for. It's situations like this that are the reason McConnell is holding out for a law protecting businesses from lawsuits. If employers are making people work in unsafe conditions, they should be sued.

(16,844 posts)your health department, but I would give it a try. I don't know the relationship you have with your co-workers, but the more of you who speak up about it, the better. Try something. If they fire you for it, I don't think they could deny you unemployment, or you might even be able to sue them. Seek legal advice.
