Anecdotal and you can blow off, I understand. But doctor at UCLA

told my friend that they have seen 30-40 cases of people who had covid and recovered once and are now inflicted with it again.

1. One of my relatives asked me "what do we do after we can get the vaccine?" and I answered

"the same we're doing now: don't go out, distance, mask, hand wash/sanitize. Until the active case number goes down, the vaccine isn't enough."

Whether immunity by vaccine or by previous exposure, it's not PERFECT risk elimination, it's just risk reduction. When cases are through the roof, you need to behave as if you've got no immunity, even if you've some. Only when cases are low can you lean on your acquired immunity to feel really safe.

2. To not do so will be like Russian Roulette with one bullet removed from the chamber...

and yes, there is little doubt we are seeing reinfection. Further, there is some emerging evidence that reinfection may result in more significant illness, though there are a lot of possible explanations for this finding.

11. All through this COVID thing I keep hearing the same joke in my head...

"Doctor, Doctor... If I get vaccinated can I go to orgies?"

"Sure, I don't see why not."

"Great! I've never been to an orgy and I'd like to see what it's like."

For the record: COVID itself and all of the misery being suffered due to it is NO JOKE.

8. Oh lordy. I can just imagine how many people won't do any of that after they get vaccinated.

4. Well there are supposedly 2 strains (at least) so seems possible on those grounds ...

Or ... other ways are possible too ... like immunity not lasting very long ... which means the vaccine will likely have the same issue.

6. I'm afraid I think

Some version of this is the new normal.

I think the root cause is overpopulation. Runaway train at this point.

9. I already know a friend who got the virus. Recovered. And then either got it again or it flared

back up after "recovery".

15. That is anecdotal.

There needs to be solid statistics on getting it twice.
