I think catastrophe comes except for Donald. You know, as much as its almost impossible to think how hes gonna weasel his way out of it, I think he will, Res said. If there are real legitimate charges leveled against him or hanging over his head the minute he becomes a citizen, I think he may leave the country. I think he may leave the country before the end of his presidency.

(8,767 posts)WASHINGTON ― The Senate will vote next week on legislation to halt the Trump administrations $23 billion sale of F-35 fighter jets, Reaper drones and munitions to the United Arab Emirates, a lawmaker said Thursday.
Four pending joint resolutions of disapproval offer lawmakers a chance to block the Trump administrations 11th hour proposal to transfer arms to the Emirates. Critics say the sales, meant to bolster the UAE against Iran, ignores risks to Israel and to sensitive military technology posed by UAEs ties to Russia and China.
Asked about the legislation, Sen. Bob Menendez, who is sponsoring the effort to bar the weapons sale with Sens. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., and Rand Paul, R-Ky., told reporters: Its ripe, its ready, it has privilege on the floor. We are gathering support for it and I would think sometime next week.
The deal includes 50 F-35s, 18 MQ9B Reapers, as well as thousands of munitions and hundreds of missiles. It was approved by the U.S. State Department in November after the UAE agreed to formalize diplomatic relations with Israel.
Because there are four resolutions targeting different parts of the sale, it remains unclear how the votes will be structured and whether each one will attract a different level of support. The resolutions are privileged, which means they can be called up without the approval of Senate leaders.

(8,767 posts)$23 million and $23 billion are both too much in arms to sell to UAE, arms sales are not an attractive part of our economy. What waste and inhumanity.

(58,647 posts)It would almost be worth it to see all the MAGAs' heads exploding.
But I would much rather see him stick around and suffer for the last few years of his miserable life.

Regardless, Trump must be indicted for his crimes.

(3,626 posts)There were some states that allowed supermajority decisions, such as allowing up to 3 dissenters in a guilty verdict, but it was found that that resulted in a lot of very hastily decided cases. There is currently a case headed to the SC that will decide whether people who were convicted by non-unanimous juries should get new trials.

(3,510 posts)Until recently Oregon and Louisiana were the only states to allow non-unanimous jury convictions. However, in April the Supreme Court decided that under the 6th amendment all criminal jury convictions must be unanimous. (Ramos vs Louisiana)

Mussolini, Hitler, Erdogan, Chavez, Lenin.
All authoritarians and in particular he first three fascists above came out of prison stronger than they went in.
I am reading Madeleine Albrights book, Fascism. She points this out . So I would say if he goes to prison it better be a term that will keep him there during the next election.

(1,981 posts)in Michael Cohen's court documents means Trump is charged in another filing which is sealed. He found this out when Barr took over. Barr can't do anything about it. Only a pardon from Pence can nullify the indictment.

I have also wonder if he might fake his own death.

(15,035 posts)the courts could leave him penniless. That alone would be reason enough for him to flee the country.
Where would he go? Moscow? Saudi Arabia? Actually neither country would have any use for him once he's out of power and he could be considered a "problem" person. Moscow poisons "problem" people. The Saudis behead them.
Given how incredibly ignorant he is, he might want to go to Wyoming. He probably doesn't even know it's part of the U.S. and Dick Cheney has been perfectly safe there for years.

(4,267 posts)He'll wait a few months to see if the charges are the type he can drag out in court before he considers leaving the country.
Too much money to be made "running" in 2024. He could easily make $2 billion before 2024 all while feeding his ego with rallies. He's still the king of the republi err trumpublican party.

(4,267 posts)Completely forgot about "trump tv/news" which I think is going to happen 100%. And as you said, he could do it from overseas. Playing the victim while he takes the MAGAts' money until he dies. So he'$ $till valuable to Putin after all.

(16,254 posts)Jared, supposedly on trips to keep Israel safe but why would he care about that when they are soon to be out of office. I never did see why Ivanka was over there, unless it was to beg for money...(same with Jared)...or, look for a residence.
Daddy would want her out of reach by the SDNY. Not so sure about the boys. If Daddy had Ivanka to comfort him, he could go through most anything, but he would never allow her to be imprisoned.

(86,556 posts)they would be fugitives from justice and not be able to escape their fate. They are all national security risks so I think a few intel agencies might have a say in where they go from now on.

(20,670 posts)It's entirely possible that the highest security people all decided years ago not to include him, and he's too dumb to ask.
The only way he'd call one up and ask a pointed question would be if vlad put him up to it, and they could easily use that for disinformation.
Our country has always been very good at this.

(86,556 posts)It's not like he hasn't been an obvious russian troll since before the election. Just because we are now finding out about all this does not mean that 17 intel agencies didn't and haven't been keeping an eye on the situation. Those assholes aren't going to leave American mainland unless they get imprisoned at GITMO.
