A question about vaccines and masks

Once vaccines become available to the public, it seems to me that anti-maskers can just walk around with impunity. If questioned, they can just say they have had the vaccine, whether true or not.

So, will the safe path be just to continue wearing mask for the rest of next year?

How long do you expect to be wearing a mask because of the risk of covid?

In the grand scheme of things, we know next to nothing about this virus and what it’s going to do.

Whether those two antibody responses are sufficient to render one non-infectious. Science has yet to say conclusively mask free is okay once vaccinated successfully or with past infection response.

a Certs. I do find myself in situations where wish folks could see I’m smiling.

I think wearing them awhile longer is prudent, but once it’s clear the vaccine is really effective, bet a lot of folks wearing them now will cutback.

I expect that could be at least another year and probably longer.

Even if people are vaccinated, they can carry around a big viral load in their nose and spread it.

Everyone should wear a mask until Covid essentially disappears and there are no more new cases, new hospitalizations and new deaths.

Data, not the calendar, should be the controlling factor.

9. You have to wear a mask even if vaccinated, because you may be asymptomatic spreader.

I just read this in an article yesterday (though can't remember where, of course).

They know the vaccine isn't 100% effective, and even if you are going to get only a mild case when infected after vaccinated, it means you could have a healthy population of virus in your nose/mouth and thus still able to spread the virus.

So I'd imagine their will be a mask until we see daily new cases drop to zero for a month or so.

A zillion sites show up, many with Fauci's comment, saying just that.

continue to require masks even after vaccines become widespread. I am fearful that our complacency will become even more prevalent after vaccines become available.

going to wear masks once a large number are vaccinated. COVID is out now, it will probably never disappear completely. Once people don't have to worry about getting sick or feel guilty about maybe killing Grandma with COVID, masks will be gone.

a mask after being vaccinated I see no reason to get vaccinated with the attendant risks to me. It really isn't helping anyone if I can still spread, so why assume the risk of a brand new, rushed vaccine? They obviously don't have much faith in it.
