Out of hospital, Rudy Giuliani reveals he received COVID-19 drug unavailable to most Americans

Chris Sommerfeldt and Dave Goldiner
Dec. 10, 2020, New York Daily News (TNS)

NEW YORK — After being discharged from a premier hospital on Thursday, Rudy Giuliani revealed his treatment for COVID-19 included an experimental drug that is in such short supply that some states have set up lotteries to determine which patients should be lucky enough to receive a dose.

Giuliani, 76, confirmed in a text message to the New York Daily News that he received Regeneron’s monoclonal antibody cocktail during his five-day stay at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., after testing positive for the virus on Sunday.

In a tweet earlier Thursday, the former New York mayor-turned-personal Trump attorney said he was also fortunate enough to receive treatment advice from White House Dr. Sean Conley.

“I walked in with serious symptoms. I walked out better than ever,” Giuliani posted, calling the hospital care “miraculous.”

What’s worse: Rudy and the moronic traitor he works with continue to encourage Americans to engage in behavior that has led to uncounted hospitalizations and deaths from COVID.

Super rich hold $32 trillion in offshore havens

By Reuters Staff
July 22, 2012

LONDON (Reuters) - Rich individuals and their families have as much as $32 trillion of hidden financial assets in offshore tax havens, representing up to $280 billion in lost income tax revenues, according to research published on Sunday.

The study estimating the extent of global private financial wealth held in offshore accounts - excluding non-financial assets such as real estate, gold, yachts and racehorses - puts the sum at between $21 and $32 trillion.

The research was carried out for pressure group Tax Justice Network, which campaigns against tax havens, by James Henry, former chief economist at consultants McKinsey & Co.

He used data from the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, United Nations and central banks.

Covid Meds Are Scarce, but Not for Trump Cronies

Rudy Giuliani got monoclonal antibodies. You probably can’t.

According to a document from the Department of Health and Human Services, a total of 108 doses of Regeneron’s monoclonal antibody cocktail have been allocated to Washington, which had 265 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday alone. Somehow Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s lawyer, got one of those doses. In an interview with a New York radio station on Tuesday, Giuliani did us all the favor of explaining why he qualified for privileged treatment.

“I had very mild symptoms,” he told the radio station, WABC. “I think if it wasn’t me, I wouldn’t have been put in the hospital. Sometimes when you’re a celebrity, they’re worried if something happens to you; they’re going to examine it more carefully and do everything right.” He said on another show on the same station that the president’s physician was involved in his care.

Giuliani, of course, is not the only presidential crony to get access to highly rationed experimental therapies. Trump himself was among the very first people to get the Regeneron treatment outside of a clinical trial, before it received an emergency use authorization from the F.D.A. on Nov. 21.

In October, Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor and an informal adviser to the president, got a different monoclonal antibody treatment, one produced by Eli Lilly. Housing Secretary Ben Carson wrote on Facebook that Trump “cleared” him to receive monoclonal antibody therapy when he was hospitalized with Covid-19 last month.

Some of these men received their treatments before they were available to the public. Giuliani may have got his instead of a member of the public. His case sheds light on two kinds of corruption. There’s the corruption of an administration that appears to be using government power to procure potentially lifesaving favors for the president’s friends. And there’s the corruption of a for-profit medical system in which V.I.P. patients can receive extraordinary levels of care, sometimes at the expense of the less connected.

Two sites that amplify hoaxes given special treatment at Trump’s briefings despite restrictions

By Paul Farhi
Washington Post, August 14, 2020 at 8:37 p.m. EDT

The White House press corps just got a little more Trump-friendly, thanks to a bit of maneuvering by the White House itself.

Representatives of the Gateway Pundit and Epoch Times — two outlets with a conspiratorial bent and a long record of editorial support for President Trump — were admitted to the White House briefing room this week. Trump called on both of them to ask questions during his televised news conferences.

Under normal circumstances, this might not amount to much, given the dozens of reporters who pack into the briefing room. But starting in March, the coronavirus pandemic prompted strict limits on the number of reporters who can attend each briefing.

Under an agreement between the White House press office and the group representing reporters, the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA), the limit was eventually set at 14, a number that allows reporters to maintain an appropriate distance from each other. News organizations that want in on the briefings have to wait their turn; the WHCA set up a rotation system, giving each outlet a shot about once every 10 days.

that was already being prescribed to thousands of others. It's a shame he didn't drop dead anyway, but!

Right now this treatment is being prescribed for people over 55 who are seriously ill with Covid, but not for more than 10 days because the timing is important.

A lot more Regeneron and antibodies are needed, of course. The suppliers expect to provide another 300,000 whatevers in early January. What's needed and in the pipeline beyond that...?
