"They all know that Biden has won the election.

The Republican Party is an organized conspiracy for the purposes of maintaining power for self interest and the self interest of its donor class...
The debate that has been about do we get to participate in this great experiment has now become one whether we continue with this great experiment at all.

There is no compromise with these people.
They must be driven back into the underworld of American politics. They have no place at the table.
That any political party that wishes to associate with them has to become so toxic that they have no chance of winning elections.
And its going to be the work of many elections.
But this odious cast of characters has to be brought to electoral submission over these next years.
At the same time, the side that believes in democracy cannot be brought to exhaustion.
We cannot be worn out in this fight...
This is all out in the open right now.
You cant put this back in the box, what happened this month.
You know exactly who is faithless to their constitutional oaths.
And its not a big stretch to say this:
If you wont acknowledge the result of this election,
if youre pretending that Donald Trump had the election stolen from him,
on no planet are you faithful -- senator, member of congress, mr mayor, mr state legislator -- are you faithful to your oath.
You have spoiled it, you have wrecked it, you have desecrated it." Steve Schmidt
How bad this war by Republican lawyers has gotten.
Names of these Republicans should be spread far and wide.

Who started the claim first, the voters or their leaders, the chicken and the egg in their hall of mirrors.

Lincoln said "Democracy is a fragile experiment and would only work if people accept the results of the people who voted "
Works for me!

(672 posts)People used to be considered honorable if they held to their oaths in the face of pressure. Now it is completely backwards. But who will enforce the sanctity of those sworn oaths of office?
"So help me God " apparently doesn't actually contain any kind of the seriousness of the oath or potential consequences.

This isn't just about honor and the character that keeps an oath to the constitution.
It's also about sedition against the democratic process rights of Americans, real harm to Americans, thereby, which is why other states' AGs wouldn't have used the words "seditious abuse."

(7,485 posts)Thanks for posting. Schmidt's words are so important I had thought about transcribing them and posting them myself. Thanks again for that and the names of the traitors.
Aw, you're more than welcome!
I got it done last night, planning to post it and the video today, but had too much to do today, so of course others landed it...
anyway, here's the more complete version...
Start 2:40
We cannot be fantastical in wishing that what has happened has not happened...
They all know that Biden has won the election.
What theyre doing is for no purpose other than power.
The Republican Party is an organized conspiracy for the purposes of maintaining power for self interest and the self interest of its donor class.
There is no fidelity to the American idea and ideal. There is no fidelity to the ideas of classical liberalism or American democracy.
The whole fight in the history of the country has been who gets to participate int the American idea and ideal.
In 2020 theres one side, and Im proud to be on it that says its for everybody for black people, Latinos, gay every American. It belongs to all of us.
Thats not what the other side believes.
They believe that they should rule over the majority of the country by any means necessary.
The debate that has been about do we get to participate in this great experiment has now become one whether we continue with this great experiment at all.
Thats why they are so radical.
There has never been a force that has achieved power or has been within reach of achieving power in the next election thats been so hostile to the history, the founding, the essence and the entire meaning of the country as is this Trump and Trumpist movement
that has taken over lock stock and barrel the republican party
which is no longer dedicated to American democracy.
It is dedicated to Trump. And Trumpism. And to his family, to defense of his indecency, his autocratic manner, his corruptions, and apologists for the profound damage he has done.
Continued 9:14
Were in a fight now between an autocratic movement and a democratic movement. The only way to win a fight is either through submission or through exhaustion.
Heres the deal and what I would say to the people that Tim described as deluded.
They are in a party that has let out of the underworld a mixture of conspiracy theorists, white nationalists, white supremacists, militia groups and all of those people are part of the Tump coalition. They are in the mainstream of the Trump coalition.
Groups like the Lincoln Project, our view is very simple:
There is no compromise with these people.
They must be driven back into the underworld of American politics. They have no place at the table.
That any political party that wishes to associate with them has to become so toxic that they have no chance of winning elections.
And its going to be the work of many elections.
But this odious cast of characters has to be brought to electoral submission over these next years.
At the same time, the side that believes in democracy cannot be brought to exhaustion.
Cannot be worn out in this fight.
Everybody whos on the side of democracy who believes in elections from AOC to the Lincoln Project, everybody in between, Republican voters
All of us, if we dont hold together, if we dont stay together on the fundamental question, we can lose the country to an autocratic party in the next presidential election.
You have spoiled it, you have wrecked it, you have desecrated it.
This is why this is such a tragic error because weve never seen such cowardice and such faithlessness toward the American experiment, towards the American Republic as we do in this hour, right now.
