I had an encounter with 2 anti mask customers

at my job today. The company i work for has told us if another customer complains about someone not wearing a mask, we as managers are to offer the non mask person a mask. If they refuse, we have to let it go. They don't want us possibly getting into a violent situation.

So I offer this guy a mask and he looks at me stupidly and says "Nope!" His wife just shakes her head at me as I try to offer her one. I was livid at how they reacted, but I just walked away.

My District Manager comes in about 10 minutes later and asked me how I was doing. I told him I was fed up with these non mask wearing people and told him that he can fire me if he wants, but that I had just texted my store team and told them they are not obligated to treat these idiots nicely. Yes, we have to let them shop, but just scan their groceries quickly and get them out of here. If they ask you where something is, just point in its general direction, etc.

He wasn't very pleased that I had done that, but too bad. I understand they don't want us getting into violent situations but damn i wish they would hire armed security to deal with these idiots. But they won't because businesses are looking out for their bottom line. That's the problem with government leaving it up to businesses to enforce these mandates.

This is in Texas by the way.

If too many people get sick because of their idiotic responses to mask-wearing, then the stores won't have customers to buy stuff!

So much for their precious bottom line.

The three major cities are pretty liberal and vote Democratic. The suburban areas are tolerant and slowly becoming more competitive for the Democrats.
But the rural areas are still as racist and backward as you would expect to find in the pre-WW2 South. And because of gerrymandering, that gives us a very Republican legislature and a 6-1 split in our Congressional delegation.

Thank you, Gov. Beshear! Every establishment that is open is required to post the sign on its door, but let people just trip on in without them. I glare at those people, and make a wide berth around them. I rarely go anywhere.

But I do go off on store personnel that either don't wear a mask, or don't wear it properly. I had to go to Ace Hardware yesterday. There were two guys working. One had his mask down under his nose, the other one just had his across his chin. The response was--I can't breathe in one. The couple of customers there besides me were not wearing masks.

I'm tired of calling corporate headquarters to complain, and either put on hold until I give up, or told they don't want their employees confronting people.

this is a business with a PA or any kind of loudspeaker system? I would have been on there so fast, announcing that two people (describe what they are wearing, age bracket) in the store are not wearing the required masks, and so to be aware of them and stay away from them since they could be highly infectious and are unconcerned about the health of other customers. Yeah...it might clear the place out, but it would single those people out and would probably be somewhat affective. And it would feel very, very good.

They do not let anyone in without a mask and if they find someone shopping who has taken their mask off, they are escorted out of the store. They do not back down. They now have hand cleaning stations throughout the store. You could bring that up to your manager.

A business does not have to let people shop inside the store. The ADA only requires that businesses make reasonable accommodation. Curbside delivery and at home delivery solve that problem.

There is no reason why a person should be allowed to possibly infect the workers. But of course the R's are working to relieve businesses of liability if they force people to work under those conditions.

FLINT – Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has charged three individuals in the killing of a security guard at a Family Dollar store just north of downtown Flint during an argument over a state order for shoppers to wear face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A 23-year-old man, 44-year-old man, and 45-year-old woman, all of Flint, have been charged with first-degree murder and weapons charges in the May 1 shooting death of 43-year-old guard Calvin James Munerlyn.

The conservative rich old folk in Texas, male or female, do not ever, and I mean ever wash before getting in the pool. Seriously, I have been in a position to know and observe this and you can bet money on it. I have observed this in expensive private pools, country clubs and public pools. Another thing you will never see. One of them getting out to go to relive their bladder. It just doesn't ever happen and if they do go to the bathroom you can again be sure that they did not go to the shower before coming back.
They talk standards and manners but their version of class is the same as Trumps version of class and that goes way back.

The mask issue is just making their commitment to community standards obvious.

If they won't wear a mask, and I make sure they understand that I'm avoiding them. Most do wear one, or put one on when we ask "do you have a mask, or do you need one?" But we do get some who refuse to wear one. We have a barrier at the checkout counter, an extra line of defense, especially for the rare occasions the customer is not wearing a mask.

I'm in NC. Even with a Dem governor, he didn't impose penalties or fines and left it to businesses to manage their own compliance. Many states do the same, but some impose fines which seems to increase compliance. I work downtown, in a tourist and retirement town. Many businesses have signs requiring masks, but many have no sign and those store owners or workers aren't wearing one. Our current sign says "please wear your mask over your nose... it's a mask, not a chinstrap" and many come in chuckling as they read it.

On an unrelated note, I was supposed to be in Texas this weekend for my cousin's 75th birthday, bought tickets last December, cancelled my flight last month when cases started to soar. Been looking forward to it a long time, even though I don't like to fly in general. I was going to wear goggles and medical grade mask for my Flight, if I ended up going, if cases were declining.
Meanwhile, I knew I wasn't getting on a plane any time soon.
