My FB post--- I am so sick of hearing about "freedom" from

the halfwitted, traitorous troglodytes about masks--

I was born in 1964, roughly a century after the Civil War, and a couple decades after WWII. My grandfather (Mom's father) had a purple heart that he earned in France. I knew him well, as he died in 2017. So- I grew up with many "war stories," and stories of the sacrifices my family made- from turning out the lights at sundown, not having silk stockings or sugar....saving and donating aluminum, etc. If I come across as rude about people who can't wear a *&^%ed mask to save other Americans, you'll have to excuse me. I was not raised with selfish people who couldn't put two and two together and realize the need for cooperation for the greater good.

when I think about what my mum and her family went through during WWII in England and contrast it with these sniveling MAGAts who cry about having to wear a mask - it's just plain sickening and embarrassing

Trump has provided too much mixed messaging with far too many "outs" from making sacrifices for the country.

They'll have guests that say we need to be nice to these people. We can't call them stupid, covidiots, morons, selfish, etc. We mustn't mask shame them or admonish them if they want to dine at a restaurant or do holiday get togethers. We're supposed to be polite and and gently nudge them into doing the right thing. A tiny part of me sees what their saying but a larger part wanted to throw something at my TV and say "Fuck that noise!" So many people would be a alive or not suffering from permanent disability if more people would've sucked it up and wore a mask. I don't blame you for being irritated.

My late maternal grandparents spent their tween, teen, and young adult years under Nazi oppression. After the war, after having spent a few years in a Soviet gulag, my grandfather was released and reunited with his wife and the son he didn't get to see until he was 1 1/2. All three were malnourished. It still took several more years for them to get back on their feet an live a normal life. They eventually emigrated to the US in the early fifties with their growing family with the help of an American sponsor. I doubt that they or my other grandparents, one of whom was a WW2 veteran, would've had much sympathy or patience with these dumbasses.

...isn't free." Few of these individuals have ever done anything to earn that freedom, but they're so happy to preach to the rest of us that we're ungrateful for it. Apparently freedom is completely free for them.

Lived through WW1 and the 1918 pandemic.
These maskless idiots are not patriotic, nor strong nor do they love their freedom more then you or I do.
They are weak, selfish, pampered ingrates.
My grandmother's generation would run rings around them, 2 world wars, a pandemic And the great depression.
They could not cope.

as not wanting to wear a mask because they don't like being told what to do. They have already been told that hating non-whites is wrong, they can't do that. They have been told that gay people love and want to marry just like straight people and so they can't deny them that right. They have been told they have to wear seatbelts, they are not allowed to beat their children or wives or pets, they have to wear shirts and shoes if they want service, they have to wait in line at Starbucks. Wearing a mask to protect others from getting sick and dying is just one more thing they are being told to do, but this is one that they can rebel against and refuse to do because goddammit they are tired of being pushed around. These are bottom of the barrel scum humans who don't understand how society and civilization work. Like our president, they have no empathy, they are completely self-serving. He has given them permission to be that way. And keep in mind they are very, very stupid as well.

were raised in close proximity to WW2 generation, depression kids. Parents or grandparents. I learned the value of putting a little aside for a rainy day and sharing with those in need. For some of us, doing the right thing and self sacrifice for the greater good stuck. For many it did not. I wish I knew why.

Still collected cans and aluminum "tin" foil and had a collection company come collect every could of months.

I was sent to her house every summer so she could cook and can for the winter. Included cutting cabbage for coleslaw. Homemade pimento cheese, apple sauce, etc.

Saved every bread tie, etc.

I asked her why she saved so many little things and she said sometimes in life, items like that won't always be around.

Not only have I not been patient about it, but I no longer give a flying snot what anyone thinks about what I think.

This said, I don't do much on Facebook. The out of state grand nieces I joined to connect with are all grown. I have moved and most are now local. What few friends and acquaintances got easily sifted once Trump announced his candidacy. The ones not worth my time quickly made themselves known so I could unfollow or unfriend.
