I used to respect him, but now he's just a megalomaniac jackass.

just leave your conspiracies and ignorance at the State Line. If your planning on coming here to act like an Asshole - we have plenty and they are on their way out. The crazy white folks in Texas day's are numbered - come here and bring your progressive attitudes with you.

That's where the job sent me the first time, and where it sent my husband the second time. Also, my experience was that we didn't actually pay noticeably less in taxes in Texas than we do now, in a state with a reputation for high taxes. When all the various state and local taxes were added up, it ended up being pretty much a wash.

I was prepared to be offended by that.

Then I remembered: I pretty much dump on Texas all the time, so who am I to get miffed?

Local fees/taxes and all of the toll roads fill in for the no state income tax.

I've often thought that living in south Texas (San Antonio) wouldn't be bad. Mild winters, 2 hours from the Gulf, less crazies than Florida and Arizona.

company based in Houston for a couple of years. Once I called down to order a wedding set. I told the woman to send it to our store in Iowa.

“We ain’t got no stores in Idaho,” she said.

“Not Idaho. Iowa.”

“We ain’t got no store in Ohio, neither.”

“Not Ohio. Iowa. I O W A. Iowa.”

“There ain’t no such state as Iowa,” declared the obvious fourth grade dropout.

In fairness, when I had her bring into the call the VP in charge of my division, he did a splendid job of giving her an impromptu geography lesson.

In Texas, you don't register with a party. You just register to vote. You can vote only in one primary per election, but even if you vote in a particular party's primary, you are not registered as a party member. You are only prevented to from voting in another party's election during that one election cycle.
