OMG, Rick Scott is on my TV giving his State of the State Address

Last edited Tue Jan 10, 2012, 01:30 PM - Edit history (1)

He is such a goober. So far, his opening statements are making me barf.. His "I'm funny welcoming ice-breaking jokes" are not funny and make him seem completely out of touch.

Its really too bad we don't have the re-call option like Wisconsin has... People hate this jerk.

BTW, he's trying to spin the job creation numbers. He said he would create 700,000 new jobs when he got elected... We all know how pissed off we are in Tampa Bay and along the I-4 corridor because he refused to allow the high-speed train. I'm assuming President Obama will harp on it hard for his re-election and try to figure out how the Federal Government can take the building project from the state, and make it a Federal initiative to skirt the asshole. If the President could come to FL and announce that the Federal Government was taking over the land and would be building the high-speed train, and that initiating the building of the train would start in hiring 24,000 workers.... and that it would be just the first step in building high-speed trains to connect Floridians to affordable access for families and businesses, and that the connection would not end in Orlando, but continue on to Daytona. That the ultimate goal would be connecting Miami with Tallahassee, Jacksonville, etc.... This would be the state that we test out the high-speed train access.

The next smart initiative that President Obama would be smart to initiate, because Florida would be connected easily with high-speed trains, making it easier for foreign travelers to visit the Great Tourist State of Florida, would be to create smart, modern public connections for people to travel in the cities or sprawl of the South in a manner that allows for easy travel within the cities and communities in Florida. Cities would be allowed to bid fro block grants allowing them to create in concert with the Federal Government, smart transit and smart community growth planning for into the future.

AND lastly, Florida could be the test state for becoming the Solar Capital of the World. We have the Sun. We lost NASA scientists, we use the gain in scientists initiating Solar development.... Delivering it cheaply, effectively, and eliminate the need for offshore drilling from the most beautiful beaches along the Gulf of Mexico.

We are coming into an election. If he initiated a few of these ideas by using some of his agencies and then ran a campaign asking Floridians and Democrats running for election within the state to prop up these initiatives, then Florida could become very blue. If we could actually have Tallahassee legislators turn blue and create the budgets, even with a Rick Scott, we could get the rest of the ideas passed.

People in Florida need jobs. We have a lot of builders and contractors out of work. Putting Federal dollars around the idea of designing "smart cities" would put money back into the pockets of the people who live and work in Florida. And because we rely on so much tourism and retirees as a resource for income and tax revenue, creating easy to travel public transit for people who fly in or as they age can no longer (or should no longer) be driving, we will become the best destination for those who want to visit the Fun, the Sun, and the Beaches. We certainly have a lot of homes on the market. Having an easy to access Florida for tourists and retirees would draw people in. Focusing on green initiatives like water saving, modern sewer systems, solar energy, and smart growth design, would bring in companies to invest and allow for a place for our college students to want to remain in Florida and work at companies that would pay better for the needed education.

AND if the President could make a southern state like Florida modern, user friendly, and progressive, it would be an easy sell for the other southern states that also have a warm environment and need a modern re-construction. If we could connect the Eastern Seaboard with high-speed rail and easy friendly public transit, we would create the needed jobs and create a cheaper, convenient option for middle class Americans who don't want to drive, but find Air fare to expensive. AND really, having the option of sitting on a train for a few hours using my computer or taking a nap before I got off in Atlanta for a weekend of some fun or an overnight in Miami for a "girls night out", is so much more preferable to sitting in traffic in a car for hours.... AND its not like I'm a wealthy person or a politician who can just hop in a jet to fly the hr into Atlanta or Miami. It would make the trip completely unaffordable.

This is something Americans want and need badly. Anyone who has spent anytime being able to travel in Europe knows how convenient modern transit can be... AND when they come back the the United States, they long for the simplicity of being able to utilize a high speed train to visit a different city or once in the city, to utilize the tram, trolly, bus or what not that make the city use friendly.. AND the design of communities within the cities allows for people to walk or ride their bicycle to close by stores so that they can literally shop for fresh items for a couple of days at a time... the communities are designed in a manner that the schools and grocery shops and the dry cleaning are all walkable or hop on a bus for cheap to get too. If we have jobs that pay a living wage, then we won't need to go to walmart and shop in bulk... We can get our fresh produce and meats from the butcher all in one simple trip or on the way home from work.... It would be nice to have the freshness of the seasons and the butcher cuts from the farms... systems that support local farmers and family farmers and a knowledge of who and how the food we use is being grown/ raised... it would help to eliminate the contaminations of mass production on factory farms..

(another little initiative I'd love to see someone with some balls to stand up against the likes of Monsanto do) is to provide grants and funding to have our generation enter into small, family or co-op farming. We are losing family farms to old age and factory farm buy outs. Smaller farms using sustainable growth practices along with organic options, would be delightful... but getting started on a farm today without inheriting it, would be such a money drain. Buying land, having the land usable, knowing what to do.. having one bad year cripples farmers, starting out farming, would completely shutter the farm before it began... And then there are the Monsanto goons who literally go around looking to see if their seeds have left their fields and are growing in another, and then they sue so they can get the proceeds of their "stolen" seed, that invaded other farmers' properties from a bird moving it or from the wind catching it...

It would be so nice if people could operate in sane manners and that the Govt was about helping the people en masse, not being bought up to protect the rich, insulate them, inhibit competition, and help them maintain a goon-like presence in other people's lives who are just "trying to make it and live out their American Dream".

Rick Scott is busing slashing and burning through Florida, destroying everything in his wake and showering his business benefactors with cash.

No competition. Talk all you want Alan West.

....whose outrageous statements can only be classified as bigoted and idiotic, and inflame the conservative base. I wouldn't call him inept.

Of course, Rick Scott is a Medicare fraudster.

I give up. Banish them both (and much of the Florida legislature as well) to a deserted island, and let's never see either of them despoil my state again.

Although his conduct was unbecoming of an officer, I highly consider it to rise to the level of war criminal.

I think war criminal is an apt description for Mr. West, regardless of the fact that he skated court martial liability in the end.

But since there is no real Democratic Party in Florida anymore, he's what you get. Look at your Congressional Delegation. With the exception of a few, they are all troglodytes!
