Wow, ok, Pres Trump is asking Congress to come back and amend the COVID relief/Omnibus spending bill

Wow, ok, Pres Trump is asking Congress to come back and amend the COVID relief/Omnibus spending bill:

"I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000, or $4,000 for a couple," he says.

Decency occurs when there is not really any gain for the person doing the act. This is all self serving. Trump wants to buy popularity, or for his public image to be bolstered, or for this call to be used to get supporters to yell about his generosity.

There isn't any altruism at all in this call.

I agree that if this can be used by Democrats to increase the amount, it would be a good outcome, and I would grudgingly give Trump credit, if even for selfish purposes some good came of it.

and is starting to be concerned about his post-presidential legacy. (He wants to tell all those MAGAts that he 'fought' for them...before he asks them for more money for god knows what.) He also knows that the congressional and senate repubs will never go for such a large stimulus bill, so he can ask for the moon with no worries.

1. Sign the bill into law.

2. Veto it.

There's no provision for the president to recall Congress to amend the bill to his liking. Basically, what he wants is a line-item veto, which is illegal. He wants another check with his signature on it, only bigger than the last one so he can brag about what a great president he is.

Unemployed people should get both the stimulus and unemployment, so their first check should be $900 under the current plan. People that qualify for only stimulus should get a single check that is 4x what the weekly federal unemployment benefit will be, under the current plan, their check would be $1,200 and unemployed people would then get a first check of $1500, followed by $300 per week until they find a job. I actually like Mark Cuban’s suggestion more, every adult American should get a weekly check until we are cleanly out of the mess that we are in, although I would peg the size of the check to how much a person earns, if employed. The base check should be a weekly amount equal to the annualized median income of Americans, the amount would start to decrease for people earning over $120,000 per year. I believe Cuban wanted a $1,000 per week check, I would go with $700 per week, that would start to decrease for employed people making over $120,000 per year, but would only go to zero for really big earners.
