She was recently widowed, and she didn't know how to cope without her husband's income.

Gramm, in front of everyone, laughed out loud and said "Yew need to find yew a rich husband".

What a card.

Nice to hear Gramm is doing well for himself. I'd figured he was long gone, in physical form, anyway.

with his Modest Proposal. Perhaps they will be advocating for that next year.

2020s Republicans more heartless than an 1840s banker.

who got rid of Glass-Stegel and caused the housing bubble and subsequent crash.

I'd rather listen to Scrooge's advice.

He was behind banking deregulation, real estate deregulation, accounting deregulation, and more. All ended up making economic crises. The fucker was on the WRONG side of history.

Then I saw the names Grammar & Solon. I then knew it was toxic nonsense.
We all know Gramm. Solon is AEI. I need not elaborate.

It ends with describing how Scrooge kept Christmas better than anyone - ie over many years. So Scrooge's miserliness is before the supposed explosion in wages they measure from 1840. Their argument boils down to "Scrooge describes a bad time - look how good it was to it got better later! We should thank the models for Scrooge for supplying such a low baseline!"
