So disillusioned with the country. Where we are.

Where the people who have 6 yachts and 2 planes talking about 600 dollars is enough to help people who lost a job 9 months ago.
The level of greed and the lack of humanity and compassion in this country just makes me physically ill. America IS the shithole country that can afford to support her people but can’t be bothered to care. How many millions of people needed food banks to eat on Christmas. Those millions are out of their minds knowing in 4 days eviction paperwork will be filed in the courts. 320,000 dead people is just a hoax...

Tax.
The.
Rich.

The party slogan should be EXACTLY WORD FOR WORD:
"We want to make the rich poorer and the poor more comfortable."

In practice, we need to talk about strengthening the social security promises and safety nets at the same time we RAISE THE FLOOR for what it means to be an "American".

Top marginal bracket should be 91% and any cuts should be to the bottom up, not the top down.

Billionaires should NOT exist, period. There is no justifiable situation to explain or justify Jeff Bezos while he operates a virtual monopoly and slavery operation to squeeze performance from people without commensurate compensation as a percentage of the gross in-take... Millionaires should be paying Eisenhower-level taxes, but billionaires should be taxed out of existence, period.

Corporations should be beholden to their communities in a symbiotic relationship where the corporation benefits and out-sized profits are repaid to the shareholders, the board and executives AND the staff and line-level employees WITH the local communities in a virtuous cycle instead of extracted from them in a vicious cycle and hoarded by the top 0.1% of the country.

Politicians should be chosen BY the voters, not the other way around through gerrymandering and nonsense. Additionally, the right to vote is primary in this system of governance - it should be universally available to all registered voters online, by mail, in person or via any means that makes the ability to cast a ballot easier and more universally available.

Congress should be reconfigured to reflect the economic reality of the country and NOT the currently out-sized representation of the millionaires only. There should be an economic salary cap applied to the parties and they should have to find and run candidates across the entire economic and political spectrum.

Money is NOT speech and corporations are NOT people - at not until an entire corporate board is imprisoned and stripped of all wealth in retribution for the practices of said corporations...campaigns also must be shrunk in size, scope and length to no more than 30 days prior to a primary and 45 days prior to a general. Violations are to be handled harshly and promptly.

Candidates for public office do not retain privacy rights to their financial dealings and crimes. No tax returns? No ballot access. EVER.

Healthcare is a RIGHT, not a profit-center. And if that means nationalized research and development alongside single payer system, then so be it. Make. It. Happen.

...when we get power, we don't wield it well. Until we push through substantive changes as proposed by Moostache, and the people can see the good it does, the great DC stall by Repubs can continue with all too much public support. LBJ was certainly not our best President, but he knew how to play power politics and I just don't see that coming from Schumer or Pelosi. I think Nancy has done a great job and maintained a cool head through a very long dark storm but someone harder edged is needed and we certainly need the Senate and probably a greater majority in the House. And all this is even harder when even with record voter turnout and such a stark contrast between candidates, there were still some 60+ million eligible Americans so disengaged from the process that they didn't vote.

I know some folks have a lot going on in their lives that they can't deal even with one more thing. And there are those that just assume all politicians, no matter their stripe, are crooks or worthless. And I suppose if I was deep in the drug trade I might not see voting as a priority. So maybe all the above accounts for 10 mil people. Yeah, what about the other 50 mil that aren't interested in the process?

It's time to stop kidding ourselves. We are responsible for some terrible things that have happened in history since our Declaration of Independence.

The numerous Wars we've waged on nations sovereignty. Look at Iraq for a recent example. Latin America, the Middle East, Grenada, Panama..... our genocide of the Native Americans and our indifference to their suffering even to this day... the internment of the Japanese Americans or Americans of Japanese ancestry... just to name a few that stick in my craw.

The financial manipulation of the masses. The union busting, not to mention slavery and the Jim Crow slavery part 2. Our continued oppression of minorities. We are far from some glorious nation of Honor.

We have done some honorable things as well. You can put World War on that list, but then again it was a matter of time before Japan and Germany turn their attention to the United States. So that wasn't totally and honorable unselfish Act.

I have no Illusions about my country any longer. We suppress and ignore history that we don't want to think about. I used to accuse the Soviet Union of that, and now I see we are not too much different... except for our quasi Free Press.

This is our nation. Our actions are a reflection of the people who have lived in it. We have elected our representative to government, and you need only look at McConnell, Graham, cornyn and all the other Congress men and women who we repeatedly send to Washington to represent us. Our nation is at best imperfect.... but we strive to be better.

The wealthy have zero power unless given it by the idiot voters. From Reagan crushing unions, to Exxon telling them Al Gore was bad, to trickle down nonsense, the Repub voters have consistently voted against their own and their kids and grand kids best interests.

They are more worried that two gay people might get married than they are about if their grand kids will even have a future. The wealthy just know the buttons to push.

Trump is the natural result. A guy whose father, himself, his kids all have hated the working person, religion, military their entire lives. And the more they destroy them, the more money these rubes send them.

Bingo!

It's a cultural war with them, which, at its root involves their religion and the propaganda they consume with gusto. LBJ nailed much of it: "Convince the lowest white man he's better than the best ..."

There's the big segment of the population with serious personality disorders created by their conditioning and they need scapegoats. Faux, Limbaugh, & tRump have given them just that.

It left me laughing in despair. Trumpers at the top don’t give a rat’s ass about the rest; Trumpers at the bottom don’t know anything, don’t care to know anything, revel in their ignorance -- actually get in your face about it, smiling like fools when Klepper points out the errors of their “facts”. They accept the correction but just don’t care. If Trump actually shot someone in the middle of 5th avenue, these boogers would still vote for him, still support him.

Jefferson, I think, spoke of the need for a well educated public to maintain a strong Republic. America is very close to 50% plug ignorant, and sassy about it!

The problems Biden/Harris face will be impossible to solve until the root cause is ameliorated -- and that will take generations, not one or two 4 year terms, even with a majority Democratic Senate.

I hope my grandson lives to see an enlightened America. But I fear he’ll be fighting the assholes the same as we are, and his children after him, if the world lasts long enough for there to be generations beyond the 21st century.

I hope also that January 6th doesn’t find a mob of leftwing fools out on the streets go D.C. to counter protest the Proud Boogaloo Boys or whatever those murderous s.o.b.s call themselves. If the Left is to win the confrontation between the Fascist rights and the government of D.C., it can only do it if it stays home and lets the evil of the Right own the stage and any violence that occurs.
