(11,424 posts)I am in Oregon, he has Salem but goes across Tillamook to coast and that whole area is very conservative. He only won with 51% of vote so lots of republicans in his area.

(64,827 posts)275-134.
134 nays requires 268 yeas to pass.
They got 275.
It narrowly passed because they need 2/3rds to amend.
Three more nays and it's 272-137. Doesn't pass.
joshcryer
(62,265 posts)It passed under the 2/3rd majority vote, which is a bipartisan message being sent by the House.
Pelosi said before the vote she would be bringing it to a majority vote if it didn't pass by 2/3rd. It was going to pass regardless. People need to understand though that "narrow passage" implies that it was close. It wasn't, because the Republicans voted in a bipartisan way to allow it to pass. Putting their votes on record.

It'll be an interesting end-game the next three weeks,

(37,748 posts)The extra two grand would be nice for a LOT of people, but I have a hard time seeing McConnell allowing it to pass knowing the the tempest is gone in three weeks. But as you implied, this vote will directly influence the GA runoffs, and he can play it up.
