(58,785 posts)should be allowed to abuse citizens with this kind of callous disregard. It is very typical, however, of the attitudes of both conservative and far left authoritarian governments toward the individual.
Marion County has residents make appointments on line as should be, and I imagine yours will work well after any initial glitches.
My county next door, smaller and poorer (retirees toward the coast but no city tax revenue), currently follows the authoritarian DeSantis model.
Despite the relative lack of resources here, if I parked my car in any line, it'd be a protest line around the county offices demanding respect or else. If I hear of one, I'll be there. This is NOT acceptable.

(2,407 posts)I just dont know whats happened to that state. Its sick and sadistic who a majority of voters put in office. One would think this would be the straw that breaks the camels back. But no. Theyll have Ivanka as their next governor or senator. I feel sorry for Florida Democrats. I really do. Like Trump, DeSantis will never admit wrongdoing or hell double down. People have and will continue to die because of him, Rubio and Scott.

(34,175 posts)My doctor is in a large practice group which has it's own labs and vaccination clinic. Last week they posted that they only had enough vaccine to protect their staff. Now it has this notice:
Dear Patients,
TPCA has finally received enough doses of the COVID vaccine to begin vaccinating patients. We still do not have many doses but expect to receive more doses soon.
We will begin with patients who are most vulnerable. Our physicians will be contacting those who are the highest priority for the vaccine based on the Florida Governors instructions. Please do not contact the vaccine clinic or the administrative offices. They will have no choice but to refer you back to your Physicians office to receive further instructions and updates.
As we contact each patient, please understand that this does not mean we have a guaranteed dose for you at this time, but you will be placed on a priority list so it will be provided for you as soon as it becomes available.
We will continue updating this statement via portal messages going directly to our patients through Follow My Health and we will place updates on our website.
We ask that you please be patient. Everyone at TPCA is working diligently to vaccinate as many patients as possible as rapidly as possible and as safely as possible. Protecting life is our highest priority. Remember our Primary Care is You.
Since I have some health issues, I suspect I am in the 1B or 1C category and will hear from my doctor's office soon. I will NOT wait in line at some public health clinic for the vaccination.
