McConnell spoke more than one sentence without talking trash about the Democratic Party. Not a hero, just unlike himself. Pence, not so much.

They know now that democracy is truly on the line. They tried not to believe it for four years. But if both parties can unify for the evening in order to do the business of the nation, if they can jointly condemn the insurrection, then the rest of the trumpers will know it is OVER.

To do what is right. And what they said is appropriate and necessary. We needed to hear that from our republican representatives. Maybe even moreso than from our democratic representatives.

as such by mouthing support of the democratic process when they’ve acted treasonously even up until this morning’s silence as Republicans were attempting to thwart the certification process itself.

including whatever "sane" Republicans are left won't stand for an angry MAGAt mob storming the Capitol. Trump can huff and puff all he wants; same as his grifter sons threatening lawmakers who oppose their father. Trump is finished. Twitter has suspended him for 12 hours and will likely ban him after he's out of office. That'll help quiet things down a bit, even though there's still Facebook and Parler.
