1. Removes the immediate threat of him doing anything stupid that might endanger lives.

2. The impeachment and removal could proceed without fear of crazy attacks. If the clock runs out before the 20th, he would not necessarily be barred from future office but would be twice disgraced.

Hopefully then the SDNY, NY AG, Ga AG, etc will all open sealed indictments and arrest him and the criminal family.

Because part of what conviction in the Senate can bring is a life-time ban on ever holding federal office again.
