A constitutional save-face for Republicans?

Consider:

Article I Section 5 addresses quorums: a Majority of each [House] shall constitute a Quorum to do Business

Article I Section 3 addresses impeachment: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two-thirds of the Members present.

So, Mitch, just ask all but four of your Republican friends to not show up. The Senate will convict 47-4, satisfying both clauses of the Constitution. And those absent Republicans will not be forever recorded with a vote for nor against the scumbag.

If the Republicans don't show up to vote for it there is no way they will be able to save face. The GOP will go down in history as supporting the US President in his incitement of insurrection to topple the government.

They will reveal where they stand. Either their votes in support of impeaching the Occupant or their complicit silence to all that's transpired if they stay away.
