This coup attempt would not have happened if White America wasn't so racist
Trump and the MAGATs have been heavily fueled by racism (including white chauvinism) and anxiety of losing their white privileges, especially because of Obama, and can't stand their "white America" being taken away.
IT IS TIME TO END RACISM IN AMERICA. These MAGATs need to accept that America is rooted in ideas and values and NOT race! America is for everyone of every race, gender, religion, etc... and NOT just for one race! If you can't understand someone of a different race or other minority group, that DOES NOT mean that it gives YOU any right to judge them, and especially to do any hostile / harmful action against them!

11. Proud Boys use him to claim they aren't racist
I'm surprised to see that argument at DU.
Proud Boys Infighting Sees Leading Member Form Breakaway Group to Fight 'White Genocide' Infighting has broken out between two leading members of the Proud Boys group, with one announcing he will be taking control of the far-right organization to address "White Genocide" and the "failures of multiculturalism." White nationalist Kyle Chapman—who set up the "tactical defense arm" of the Proud Boys, the Fraternal Order of Alt-Knights (FOAK)—has criticized the group's chairman Enrique Tarrio while announcing a so-called rebranding of the organization. Writing on encrypted messaging app Telegram, Chapman used racial slurs against Tarrio and other neo-Nazi rhetoric while announcing that the "grifting leaders" had been deposed and the group would be renamed the Proud Goys. The term "goy"—a Hebrew word for a non-Jewish person—is sometimes used by white supremacists to signal their anti-Semitic beliefs, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. "Due to the recent failure of Proud Boy Chairman Enrique Tarrio to conduct himself with honor and courage on the battlefield, it has been decided that I Kyle Chapman reassume my post as President of Proud Boys effective immediately," Chapman wrote. "Our logo will forthwith be changed to reflect the core beliefs of Proud Boy members. https://www.newsweek.com/proud-boys-based-stickman-enrique-tarrio-goys-1546597 |

14. Proud Boys "use" him? What? He's got no self? Can't think for himself?
Wtf does that mean?
I find it difficult to believe that the Poor Boys are smarter than anyone. Sounds like Enrique screwed himself, just like the rest of the idiots he hangs with. |

13. Well said
President Obama did scare the living the shit out of racist RW America. For 8 years their fear of President Obama was palpable in their social media. I always wondered how we could go from an excellent representative voice of the American people to a voice coming from 180 degrees in the other direction from democracy that represented racism, sexism, fascism. In one fell swoop. Right after President Obama.
![]() Well, many millions have followed the RW standard-bearer, this cult leader, right over the precipice into a morass of legal trouble many will be years digging out from under. And they deserve to be under trumps huge pile of s***. ![]() America is for all of us, not some idealized white supremacy fantasy land where all non-white are beholden to the white master. Those days are long gone. |

Racism is inarguably inherently bad. Exploiting that same racism for power is arguably worse.

19. Honestly, the actual racists in white America aren't the biggest problem.
The biggest problem in white America are the staggering number of white folk who as yet fail to recognize that the reason they were led to believe many of the things they believe, upon the basis of which they have been manipulated to oppose the things they oppose, IS, in fact, racism, despite however it may have been packaged and advertised to them...
Whether or not said individual white American actually shares the racism to perpetuate which their beliefs and positions have been manipulated. That's how we can end up with movements like MAGA, or at least some parts of the coalition, welcoming folks like Ali Alexander or what's-his-face from the Insecure Toddlers. On paper, the issue is voter fraud, not race, so their race does not automatically make them an enemy to other people who believe the same shit, fed to them for the same reason. At least not to those who are not actually racist. But that doesn't change the underlying beliefs and positions themselves actually being rooted in racism, and designed to perpetuate white supremacy. In short, we have a *comparatively* small number of actual racists in white America. But we have a staggering number of people who allow themselves to be/remain useful idiots to racists. Now that's not to excuse them from the consequences of their ignorance, be it willful or merely as a product of negligence, but I do think it is important for us to recognize that we face two very distinct problems when it comes to the perpetuation of racism, because not embracing it does not mean that you are not perpetuating it. |
