I'm not sure a delay in a Senate Impeachment trial is a bad thing

As time goes on more damning evidence will be exposed and make it more difficult for Republicans to defend him or excuse his behavior. We Democrats need to keep that information flowing out and demand accountability for all crimes.

Then Schumer can send the impeachment to a committee (for one reason, because it won't be an impeachment of a sitting President). The committee can do blockbuster televised hearings while the main Senate does other critical business.

The main reason now is if Trump does anything else, then the GOP is in an untenable position. Baring Trump from future office is less critical right now.

They need time to gather evidence and roll a lot of these things together. Its looking more and more like there was a criminal conspiracy going up to pretty high levels, and the further along the investigation goes, the worse it looks for the president.

I honestly think there was a very high level conspiracy here, and that it was thwarted by 1. The quick actions of capitol security to evacuate everyone, and 2. The stupidity of a lot of the Trump supporters who probably got in the way of the 'go team' or whoever it was that was supposed to do all that

Or else everyone at the execution level of this conspiracy was a huge bunch of idiots (also a very likely possibility). Anyone who's very bright would have known that they were gonna be totally fucked no matter what the outcome.

When you look at all the pieces of this it seems very clear there was an extensive amount of coordination going on that would appear leads to involvement with elected officials.

It will be interesting to see if they go back underground now, recoup and build up for a stronger attack or move forward.

Either or we need to find them and prosecute every last one.

Sorry for the football analogy, but it fits.

By punting, the ball shifts to the Dem control. By law, Schumer cannot ignore the impeachment action. The Senate will have to do something. It's another ploy to slow down the Biden agenda. Now they have to organize some kind of impeachment effort, all while trying to get Biden's Cabinet installed and ramping up the coronavirus effort and saving the economy.

I do want to see a real impeachment effort, with committee meetings and votes and a real "trial." I know it won't happen, but I would love, love, love to see Trump dragged in and forced to testify. He needs some humility in his life, and if he won't show it on his own, he should be humiliated in public. Just my fantasy.

At least there is a whole slew of legislation that could be fast tracked through the House again and sent back to the Senate for action, which I'm sure that a Schumer Senate would work on.

Hearings do not require all Senate members to be involved and would not necessarily hinder the other work that needs to occur. I'm more inclined to think it will happen as we see more evidence unfolding.

The last impeachment "trial" was a travesty. McConnell could easily pull that again.

Let's have a real trial, run by Democrats.
