She suggests that Mitt's comment was merely about switching companies but if that were the case, he would have said it in that manner.
When I want to get better insurance coverage for less money, I'll say "I'm switching insurance companies." I certainly wouldn't say, "I want to fire people." It's not the workers there that I have an issue with, it's the company's policies and delivery of services. It is always a management issue. If I have problems with a worker there, it is usually because that worker needs better training. I've seen it happen again and again: a system is set up and it doesn't work and workers "fail" because the system is deeply flawed.
Mitt said exactly what he meant. He liked to come into a business and fire people who worked there. He "fires people." He dumps them out on the street.
Choice of words matter. And Mitt's own words tell us volumes about him and his preferences.

(130,822 posts)didn't have his head around it, didn't have his words, a symptom of 'DEFINITELY NOT A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.'
Bain acquires companies and reorganizes them, which usually/often includes shrinking number of employees.
Choice of words certainly matters.

Frankly, I don't care what he meant - we need to use his words against him, beat him over the head with his own phrases. Whatever it takes to keep Willard out of the White House.

(30,540 posts)his poor choice of words shows what a poor leader of the nation he would make. Willard is sloppy and lazy with his words, a president can't be that way in dealing with other world leaders.
