checks..I saw the tweet where Joe said $2000 - I also watched Joe in GA..when he said vote for Ossoff and Warnock and the $2000 will go out the door..

But, IMHO the conversation has always been $2000..not $2600..we got $600, and $1400 more =$2000..I seriously don't think Joe and Nancy would be on such a different page..what am I missing here..?

hurting. We will have a slim majority in the Senate, leadership needs to lean hard on anyone going against it. For example Joe Manchin, who has already stated he will not support what our president wants to do. Donkey and a carrot or a big stick, leaders choice.

Joe knows and said $600 was not enough and he want's another $2,000 stimulus check. No one logical is magically combining the checks that have been sent. It's an excuse to shut down the discussion.

The $600 was not the $2000 I had hoped for, but it was nevertheless gratefully received. Did it last long? Nope, gone quick, because it did what it was supposed to do: it helped me take care of some things which had been on delay.

Am I going to complain if I get $1400 instead of $2000 in whatever deposit may next arrive? NOPE. I'll be jumping for joy to have an amount of money I usually never do to handle things with.

I never thought it was promising another check which would be $2000 above and beyond the $600. I heard what Biden said and this computed in my brain as, "$600+$1400 = $2000. He is finishing giving us the amount we first aimed to receive."

I never thought anything else, as someone who can genuinely use the money, and I think it's twisting his words to call it any kind of failing on his part.

Fri Jan 15, 2021, 03:58 PM
Jan 2021

The USA has the wealth necessary to get things done. We can have nice things.
IIRC, I heard President Biden say (early in his speech) that those on the top of the piss-on-you pyramid (aka trickle down) increased their wealth in this pandemic year, by 1.4 trillion dollars. That $1.4T could be paying for vaccinations.

The USA is wealthy and the wealth needs to be taxed.
The secondary argument that the debt can never be paid off is a ruse to convince the next generations that they will be screwed; therefore let us, the wealthy, take it all now.

The argument also reveals a lack of faith in the future growth of the country's wealth.
Tax all money made by money, not labor.
Return the fruits of labor to the working class by reducing the owner-manager class rip-off of value-added created by society not capitalists.

...I'm exhausted with the people who think we don't have a right to speak out about our needs and expectations of government.

What the hell is this site for, if it's not a place where people can disagree? Candidates have their own fan sites.

Did it occur to you that people complaining have more to worry about than whether someone on DU is offended? In this case we're talking about many people who are in actual distress, not just internet angst over someone dissenting.
