Because it gives them no incentive to negotiate or cooperate. It also lets people hide behind fake votes like the "repeal and replace" game.

That was when it would have been most effective because the Liebermans and Nelsons of the world wouldn’t have the leverage a Manchin has now.

How much egg would be on their faces if they nuked the filibuster and still couldn’t get anything done? Because that’s what would happen.

Then the left would stay home in 2022 to “send a message”, the GOP takes back the Senate which handcuffs President Biden completely, his administration is seen as a failure, Nikki Haley or whomever wins in 2024 and the right wingers go insane with nothing to stop them.

Make them actually have to stand there and filibuster. End the non-filibuster filibustering. That’s the best move as things stand. It’s far too risky to go full on right now.

- Republicans are ALWAYS bold. We need to stop the hand-wringing and "what ifs", and SEIZE the moment.

This isn’t a lockstep left wing party the way the Republicans are a lockstep right wing party. We have liberals, moderates and conservatives. They have conservatives and fascists.

I’m just being realistic. This will backfire horribly.

Schumer reportedly said he didn't have the votes, at least at the moment.
