Trump has changed his mind?

Now we're hearing that he will stop threatening the Rs with a third party, because his "very, very large brain" has told him they won't vote to impeach. Someone help me out here. Is this Trump playing 5 dimensional chess, or is he playing chess like a pigeon? Knocking over the pieces, shitting all over the board, and then strutting around like he won. I'm pretty sure I know the answer.

7. If He Gets Away With This - Backing Off Of A 3rd Party Because They Won't Vote To Impeach....

he'll just hold that bit of blackmail over them to use for another time. The only way to prevent that is to deal with Trump once and for all. Vote to convict. Ban him from ever running for office again.

9. Playing chess like a pigeon, for sure.

The GOP is screwed. They have no strategy right now, so they're going to play this out for as long as they can by continuing to use the Trump playbook -- in other words, they are going to attempt to create the perception that they're not screwed by walking around talking and acting as if they're not. (The media will help them out here by lazily falling for it.)

But this impeachment trial is going to be very bad news for them no matter what happens, which is why they're trying really hard to make it not happen at all -- see Republican Senators uniting around the idea that the trial is unconstitutional (pointless), or John Cornyn threatening to impeach past Democratic presidents (ridiculous).

And the reason it's going to be very bad news for them is that not only will mountains of evidence be presented that shows the unhinged lunatic leader of their party really did try to violently overthrow the U.S. government, but whether they vote to acquit or not, they'll still have to deal with that unhinged lunatic trying to pull their strings.

Donald Trump is no longer America's problem, but he is still very much the Republican Party's problem.

10. I vote pigeon.

Or to be more specific, Trump and his MAGAts are like a flock of seagulls -- they fly in, shit all over the place, and never leave.

Our democracy is under attack like never before. The Senate Repugs aren't going to vote to convict -- I doubt even one of them will do it, even after Fat Donnie's mob physically attacked the Capitol, killed people, and had a coordinated plan to harm senators and the vice president.

The Republicans have one purpose, and that is to gain power. They're even using the threat of exercising the filibuster in the future to give them absolute control over Biden's agenda now. If the filibuster is allowed to exist, the Dems are going to lose both houses in two years. People want to see change that makes their lives better, and if the Dems can't deliver that -- and deliver it quickly -- we'll become a minority party, and probably lose the presidency in four years.

The Republicans are in favor of autocracy and mob rule. Margaret Mead put it this way: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. Replace the word "thoughtful" with "angry" and you've got the Repug game plan.
