How? My wife had an appointment at 8:15. I asked if they take walk-ins at the end of the day to account for the people who didn't show up for appointments. They said yes and to be back at 12:30.
I was there at noon, and got my shot within 30 minutes.
Wifey and I are very happy. We go back on the 19th to get our second.
If you don't qualify and want the shot, you might try it.

(31,261 posts)Any that is not used cant be put back under extreme cold, so it has to be discarded. There are lots of stories circulating about people getting shots because they waited around until the end of the day, when any unused vaccine would have been thrown away, if an arm was not available.

(7,518 posts)It seems that the general consensus among health authorities is that given the choice between letting unused vaccine expire or giving the vaccine to non-eligible population, clinics should opt for the later and not the former.
There was a story the other day about shots being given out on a snow covered freeway rather than letting vaccine expire in a stranded truck.

(5,223 posts)But those of us in Florida who DO qualify, (over 75, pre existing conditions) are at the mercy of a Trumpian governor who lacks the intelligence to have any real plan. Been trying for a month, almost daily, and no luck. Hearing about folks paying under the table here. So damn sick of this mess!

(57,073 posts)So glad you & Mrs. Ferret got your vaccines! Will they provide timely 2nd dose?

(6,204 posts)but with you both getting your second shots on the same day you might want to be prepared for the side effects. Maybe have whatever you like to eat, drink and brings comfort to get through those couple of days depending on the vaccine. In other words I am just trying to let you know that a fellow DUer is cheering for you and your wife.

(21,106 posts)And you are not being a busy body. Yeah, we are as prepared as we can be for those side effects. My sister got her second shot on Wednesday and has been really sick for two days. It's letting up a bit now, but it's been hell for her. (She is front-line).
Thank you so much for your support.

(6,204 posts)Like you, I have been reading about our other DUers and their reactions to the shot. Hope you both come through smoothly.

(10,125 posts)Does it mean that you get a second de facto appt or do you have to just show up again and fly stand-by?
On the 19th...
