Trump gives public vote of support to pro-insurrection Rep who thinks "Jewish lasers" in space are starting wildfires out west. Not only won't be purged from GOP caucus but be a de facto leader. McCarthy will fall in line. GOP increasingly explicit in support for insurrection.

5. Josh Marshall's wording is sloppy there. A private phone call is NOT a public vote of support. Only

a public statement or action could actually be considered a public vote of support.

MTG is trying to make it a public vote of support with her tweet about it. She might even have had Trump's OK to do so.

But if Trump actually wanted to give her a public vote of support, all he has to do is have his office issue a statement. Or call Fox, OAN or Newsmax to make a statement.
