(17,274 posts)Hope it passes quickly. I think chocolate will help!

(149,580 posts)The article does say that there's no danger from this little reaction. Heck, it doesn't even itch!
And there's almost nothing that chocolate doesn't help.

(7,947 posts)I hope all the reactions are pretty minor. I'm scheduled for TOMORROW!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)I had no energy for a couple of days, but that's gone now, long since.

(42,751 posts)I think that's the only one now available from my county health dept.
I've been on the list for about a week.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)Since it's more common in females, I suspect you won't have it--but you might.
I was quite tired for a couple of days right after getting the vaccine, but that's long gone. Now, it's just the blotch, which isn't even itchy!
lpbk2713
(42,751 posts)And that was two months after I'd had my regular flu shot. So I'll never
know if that was the only experience I will have with Covid-19 or not. I
didn't see a doctor about it because it started on a Friday and it was all
better by Monday morning.

(51,550 posts)The story says it usually goes away in 24 hours.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)And it hasn't gone away--I just found it last night, just a week since I'd had the vaccine. I suspect it might take a while to disappear, but I'm not worried.
I posted this since I hadn't heard anything about this happening, and I thought all of you should be aware of it, on the off chance that it might happen to one of you.

(14,889 posts)You know Peggy, if you get a reaction, then you know it's working! Yeah!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)It's definitely working!

(7,595 posts)Could you call your GP and and ask if it's safe for you to take Benadryl after receiving the vaccine? If your allergic to Benadryl, perhaps an anti-rash ointment make help.
Here's to a speedy relief for you.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)The only reason I found the spot was when I was showering and I caught a glimpse of it in the mirror!
I posted the photo and the link in case anyone here had experienced this and didn't know what to make of it.
Niagara
(7,595 posts)I'm glad to hear it's not bothersome for you.

(23,970 posts)...no need to do anything just for the sake of doing something.
Over my years in pediatrics, I have coined the term benign neglect. Benign neglect is often very effective as long as we are patient enough to use it long enough.
KatyMan
(4,189 posts)and I did have a reaction later that evening--body aches, headache, a bit of nausea. But it happened overnight so I slept through most of it, and tbh it wasn't that big of a deal. No different than the reaction a lot of people have to the flu shot. Was right as rain in the morning and have been ever since.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)It just means the vaccine is working, and that's a good thing.
My blotch means the same thing: the vaccine is working.

I hope you get past it safely and quickly, CaliforniaPeggy! I'm getting the Moderna vaccine on Thursday at 11:02 a.m. I'll let you know if I get the rash, too. I usually react to everything.

(149,580 posts)I hadn't heard about them.
I feel fine, actually. The damn thing doesn't even itch!
Best of luck with yours! Please let us know if you get this odd little reaction. It's not very common, apparently.

(3,335 posts)Its concerning, but after a Google search, it was a common reaction.
Thanks for the heads up!
Looking forward to when I can get my shot, someday soon, hopefully.

(36,745 posts)Everyone Ive met who has had shingles has said you DO NOT want them.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)I didn't know that about the shingles shot and now I do.
I hope you can get the vaccine soon, too.

(65,170 posts)Glad you have had only a mild reaction, however. It is well worth it to be vaccinated. The snow here has messed up my doctors schedule, but I will be getting my vaccine soon. Hoping for the best.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)But since I hadn't heard anything about this reaction, I decided to do a little research, and the article attached answered my questions completely.
I expect you'll be just fine!

(29,673 posts)Red, itchy, about 5 inches but no longer swollen
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)Sounds as though your immune system is working overtime. I'd be tempted to take something (oral or topical) to stop the itch.
Hope it passes very soon.

(8,764 posts)I had the first Moderna shot last Wednesday.
Such a non-event is when took a shower that evening noticed a bandage and my arm and my mind went to "where did that come from" before recalling the shot that morning.
Now I am wondering if there are some side effects. My appetite has been way off ever since, nothing tastes good. Also have a weird sort of "anxiety", just can't get comfortable and need Ambien to sleep.
I am a senior citizen that had chemo for NHL in 2018 and surgery for a different cancer in January 2020 and have a variety of other risk factors.
My general medical provider is the Indian Health Service that receives the vaccines separate from the county and state (note I am not Native American but live in an IHS service area).
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)If I were you, I would give my MD a call and report what you're experiencing. Just to be on the safe side, and in light of your risk factors.
And I sure hope you'll be feeling much better very soon!

(8,764 posts)that may or may not be from the shot.
Enjoy you here over the years.

(1,323 posts)for the first time. In fact, the red covered most of my arm above my elbow. And now, 4 months later, I still have a red mark where the needle went in. No other lasting effect. I'm anticipating having the response you have to this one. At least you got the shot!!!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)And you bet I got the vaccine! I'm going to get the second dose too. No sense not getting it!

(8,690 posts)Said they had cellulitis and needed to go on antibiotics. If it spreads any further I would call a doctor. Any time a needle is stuck in your arm you have a very small chance of getting cellulitis.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)I very much doubt that this is cellulitis. It's not one bit itchy or scaly. It just sits there, looking slightly more pink than the rest of my arm!
I'm a retired RN, and believe me, I will call my doctor if anything else shows up.

(28,979 posts)As long as no hair grows on the palms of your hand...you're good.
Does it itch? I sometimes have these kind of minor reactions. They usually go away after a day or two.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)I only discovered it when I glanced in the mirror after my shower. Then I saw it! And then I wondered where on earth did that come from?
And no, no hairy palms for this chickie!

(808 posts)We got our first shots on Jan 22. I had a worse reaction that occurred the day after (swelling, arm pain, muscle pain, fatigue, low-grade fever), but it wasn't that bad and it went away the following day. My mom, who is 91, had some arm pain and fatigue, but that was it. After about a week, she had the itchy arm/rash (not as bad as yours though). It's lasted a long time, but I put cortisone cream on it the other day and the itching went away.
