Why is the press so obsessed with trying to get President weigh in on the impeachment?

Spot on.

I usually follow CNN, and I am getting a little bit fed-up with stuff like this. Jen Psaki was VERY clear that the President had many other more important things to do, and this was a matter for Congress.

MSM needs ratings and cash. This trial is a great chance for them to milk the heck out of both of them.

And if they can't find it, they'll manufacture it in some way

and spend most time just discussing that .

For four years, they didn't have to stir - Trump did more outrageous things every day. Biden isn't going to do that - he is busy running the country. But competence is boring, so the press has to try to find a story, and asking Gotcha questions is one way to do it. They didn't have to do much to provoke Trump, but Biden is SO different.

The president has other things to focus on. He doesn’t need that drama taking over his plans.

They want it to be Biden vs Trump, “this time it’s personal” when it’s really nothing at all like that.

But that doesn’t drive ratings. So they try to sensationalize.

Ratings! Ratings! Ratings!

Media does not like back to business again.

The last administration didn't believe in the separation of powers and took their cue's from Trump to weigh in on everything. This administration highlights how Congress has their own role and the executive branch doesn't really have a role here. They do the same thing with the DOJ, the DOJ is independent again.

to egg Biden into commenting so they can gleefully report on Trumpy's response and agonize over the norms he breaks and his nonsensical mutterings. The media played a huge role in building the shithead up and doesn't want that to stop.
