Exiled in Mind

"But let justice flow like a river, and mercy like an unfailing stream." -- Amos 5:24

The stench of decay becomes a maelstrom within the dark, empty space between the sociopath's ears, exciting his oral cavity to become a whirlwind rousing his followers to engage in an insurrection against the nation. Weeks later, the poisonous snake believes he is still entitled to occupy the presidency, and his armed supporters still believe him.

Trump's legal beagles refuse to use his "stolen election" delusion as a defense in the impeachment. To do so, they know, would be to admit that the 6th was indeed an attempt to deny a peaceful transfer of power, in order to deny the election's outcome. Instead, the first attorney's presentation came close to arguing for Trump's conviction, though it was an appeal to potentially sane republicans.

The second one channeled the furious confusion of the republican masses. The combined message is clear: if you vote you conscience, the right wing shall primary you!

Yet without a conviction, the subversives will continue to attack. They, like Trump, believe he is the president in exile. Convict him in the Senate, so that they will know he is not.

1. It is always

most important to do the right thing when it is difficult.

5. It seems as if

it is asking to much of them to have them honor their oath of office. Cowards.

8. Power is everything to some.

Yes, they're cowards. But they probably see themselves as astute for opting to keep their power by playing to the Trump voter.

Kind of a strange bet, to my thinking. I believe evidence has shown those voters turn on a dime and don't mind going after republicans with the same violence. Wanting to hang Pence should have shown them that.

But they probably think they're the exception.

10. One of the things

about cowards that I have found to be constant is that when they find themselves in a tight spot ted yo look for the most immediate easy way out, without considering longer term consequences.

12. I've seen it.

They're OK, for the moment, and that's all that matters to them.

3. the vote to convict will be bipartisan

but he still won't be convicted, I predict.

I want to hope but I just can't, not with the loons we have in the senate.

I'm grateful for the 6 or 7 who will vote to convict, shows me there is some hope in that party yet.

But the others won't have the guts or are simply as inhuman as 45 himself.

I sure hope I'm wrong.

6. You are likely right.

Accepting the unspeakable always damages a society. Indeed, it encourages embracing the unspeakable.

7. They will.

It is consistent with the moral/ ethical cowardice we have witnessed for over four years now. Very un-American.

9. The history we're watching today sets a fundamental precedence

It is now part of the Democratic legal rules of Congress from now on that Presidents can be impeached and convicted after leaving office. It may seem a small victory right now, but in reality it is of immense importance. Any future mobster will think twice about running for office for personal lucre and power because Presidential immunity will not extend to post presidency. Even if immunity is in place during the presidency the attention to every last detail of their lives as President will assure conviction after they leave office.

That is no small thing.

11. Absolutely!

It's huge. They reaffirmed what was already accepted, but that the republicans were willing to destroy. Cowards.

13. If this had already been in place when Trump took office

even he would have thought twice before committing his crimes.

But we know it will stop future criminals.

14. The Radical Republican Reich, formerly the Republican Party, cares only for power.

This Radical Realm is beyond the reach of reason; we have to hope some of the Senators still have a little hold on reality.

16. My hope is

that it divides the republican party at the seams. However, it won't be the 50-50 split, or even 60-40. There are too many Trump cult members for that. Still, it helps to destroy them in time.

15. The good news is that the American people

are judging for themselves.
ReTHUGs deserve whatever punishment is coming their way for deferring to this monster. What's more many of them share his views.

17. Very important point!

You are 100% correct.

It would be mighty hard, at least in my opinion, to imagine any thinking person viewing today's hearing saying, "Dang! Trump's legal team sure kicked ass today!"

I think the most important consequence the snakes can face is losing their seat in government. The 2022 mid-terms have started. This trial is a valuable resource for our party to use.
