Did I miss it? This was a compelling, chilling, tangible connection to Trump by his newly-installed Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller who had the National Guard stand down. It placed special conditions on authorizing troops, limitations on resources and orders for troops to refrain from engagement and arrests. This was from Trump's guy. It is no stretch to say that the memo had Trump's fingerprints all over it and was done in anticipation of what he KNEW was going to happen. It showed his participation in the process, his influence in the horrific outcome. It severely compromised the safety of the Capital and law enforcement personnel.
Why wasn't this front and center?

(38,601 posts)I would have liked to have learned more about that, and generally why no help arrived for so long, but those investigations are probably going to take longer.

2) its net value was positive for the prosecution. There must be something in that news item that is not helpful.

(29,456 posts)That memo explains a great deal and gathers known events in one place. If an accurate replica of a verifiable document, it is utterly devastating and would have provided the ultimate vehicle to force guilty votes.
Inability to assure the memo's provenance has to explain why it wasn't used, imho. The risks of even mentioning it would be too great. And, recall that the evil genius, Karl Rove, is still around. His best move was leaking the truth through a vulnerable and seemingly unreliable source, pointing to the source's clear vulnerability, and then denying the facts based on his attack on the source.
