But America deserves to hear from them or this will happen again. And the next time will be way worse. Secret Service could shed some light as well.

(25,464 posts)The 44 are still going to vote to acquit. Many of them have already said as much. Any acquittal is, by definition, a lack of accountability. Pence and McCarthy testifying doesn't suddenly transform that into accountability.
Commensurate accountability would be Trump being prosecuted and convicted by any of numerous jurisdictions.

(25,464 posts)He would testify that he knew the mob had targeted him and others, but he's not going to assert that Trump specifically sent them to kill him. He's also not going to testify that he was "damn near hung". He would more likely credit his security staff for evacuating him and taking him to shelter, etc.
If you're really expecting what you've asserted from his testimony, you would likely be disappointed. Even if he believes it to be true, he's highly unlikely to testify to anything beyond the basic facts. He's not about to say "Trump sent a mob to kill me and I was damn near hung" or equivalent.

Hell, interview some of the Secret Service and see how close he and his family may have been to death or dismemberment. That was a rabid lynch mob, and he was damn lucky, as 45 had no intention of stopping it. He enjoyed it and didn't speak to Pence for 5 days. 5 days, cause he was still outraged that Pence didn't do as he instructed.

(13,180 posts)Anyone who knew Trump was acting callously and knowingly during the riot. The attitude after the incitement proves the incitement. If Trump had acted horrified and shocked, it would show he was at least pretending he didn't mean to incite. If there's no evidence he even tried to pretend he was horrified and shocked but was actually acting vindictive, satisfied, or even excited, that means he "got what he wanted."
