3. "Unaffiliated" means he's still a Repuqe, he can just hide it now.

Wtf else is unaffiliated for but to hide your shame.

5. If they join the Dems, they will stink up the party

by pushing it more to the right.

6. Was Rush a Republican?

Or a Conservative? He exited while still steeped deeply in his sickness (and took that sickness with him, which was not the cancer, but him in his entirety). I think that is the only way they really change-to crossover.

20. Ah, calling him that is accurate

As, it is just another name for selfishness, mean spiritedness, bullying, and a lot of anti-humanistic behavior.

22. That would seem to make him a Sadistic Sociopath rather like Dear Leader.

He certainly enjoyed victimizing many people at will. He was a sick person who should have long ago been in care for his affliction rather than feeding his addiction to harming others.

15. But most of them aren't Democrats . I would rather them become unaffilated or independent

and then oppose people Like Trump and some of the other more fucked up things about the Republican party while still being conservative rather than pretend to be something they aren't.

16. Unaffiliated means not brainwashed, not Q and not cult 45

So that's a step in the right direction, which is distancing themselves from the GOPQ.

Becoming independent means they do not and will not blindly support their former party.

I agree we don't want them joining the Dems unless or until they can support our agendas.

While I could never bring myself to do so, I've honestly thought about joining the GOP a few times, just to infiltrate and manipulate their numbers. There are rethugs who are registered Dems but never vote with us. If we (all) joined the GOPQ, we could vote in their primaries, get rid of Q and tRump candidates, influence or complain to the RNC as constituents, then vote for the Dem candidates in the general election. Note: I am not advocating that, just sharing a warped and crazy idea that's popped into my head a couple of times, out of frustration and desperation.

Any (sane) rethugs leaving the party these days are fed up with what it's become. And while they may remain conservative, they no longer owe allegiance to their former party. That's a start.

8. Welcome to DU! I would have given Hendren more credit if he had stated that the reason

for changing his party affiliation was because his party encouraged and enabled an attack on the Capitol and on democracy itself. The division he speaks of has been going on and accelerating since tRump ascended to the Oval Office. I could have wished that he, and others like him, had spoken out before Jan. 6th.

9. Absolutely

They have to own up to the damage their party has caused the country. Then, perhaps there might be some healing.

I have not joined the allies.

He will still vote to help billionaires crush / rob the poor, and pay no taxes.

You can change the label but stripes are a harder thing.
