I don't remember the anger. Anger about things that hadn't bothered people before. All of a sudden, Archie Bunkers were all over the place, simmering in their anger. Ready for a fight. Refusal to argue, to debate, to hear the other side. Unable to defend their anger. Pontificating. They loved being angry. The Dittoheads.
I don't care whether it was an act and Rush did it for ratings. He was toxic, a megalomaniac, and a demagogue.
I'm glad he's gone. Not that his influence will fade away that easily, but I'm glad he's gone.

The irony of it is that WABC also had Lynn Samuels, a liberal, on the station. And she defended Bob and Rush, stating they weren't so bad off the air. I seem to remember her saying that Rush was actually painfully shy. What's up with that?

(5,168 posts)An excerpt:
Im a radio veteran. My first radio job was in college at the University of South Florida in 1978. I never looked back, but I did take some detours in my chosen profession. Many of those detours could be traced back to one ugly, despicable excuse for a human being.
Rush Limbaugh died today. I have a few things to say about the cretin and his legacy.
It wasnt about politics. One of my first radio jobs was Producer of the Bob Grant Show at WMCA in NY. He was one of the original right wing hate talkers before Rush Limbaugh ever cracked a microphone. I hated Bobs politics. On top of the fact that I was a liberal, I was a girl! I was 23 when I started working with him. He may have been a jerk on the air, but in person he was a teddy bear.

(10,428 posts)Air America used her to replace Mike Malloy. I really like her, and have listened pretty much every day since then. It's disgusting what corporations ( like Clear Channel ) have done to working people like her.
I hadn't heard that story about Bob Grant until I listened to the podcast today at work. It kinda reminds me of the story Stephanie Miller tells about traitor Sean Hannity being a "decent guy" who "showed sympathy" when her dog died a few years back. I just question whether any semblance of decency by those hatemongering hosts can be real.
