They need to spin this as communism or some such crap and they won't be able to do that if they voted for it.

4. Standard GOP Operating Procedure

Feb 2021

Nothing is more important, when a Democrat is President, than making that President look bad.

Chief weapon to achieve this goal: obstructionism.

What would be good for the American people is a distant second, third, or fourth concern, so long as the lion's share of the blame sticks to the President and his party.

The American public is quite happy to play along by paying little or no attention to the details of how things get done in Washington, failing to understand the GOP's obstructionist role, and blaming the Democratic President and his party for the failure to get important stuff done.

Just as the GOP likes it.

Instead, the media holds the Biden administration accountable for not getting Republican support. Thus, the Republicans have an advantage in the media.

They can get away with refusing to go along with anything that Biden supports and never be blamed for being obstructionists.

Exactly the problem. The media doe not find sane people worthy of their time. Must give equal time to stupid to force attention.

Republicans aren't interested in "unity" they are interesting in my way or the highway. This was already the case before Donnie Boy came along. It is just that much worse now.

It would take them five minutes to figure out that the party dies if it splits. They're dumb but they're not that dumb.

It's just talk, just like Trump's blather about starting a third party in the first place. He's the laziest politician in memory, for one, and he knows his only chance at any elected office is through the GOP.

These people are pathological liars. I'm not sure why we take anything they say seriously.

They will continue to obstruct as much as they can, regardless the consequences. Party over country, as usual.

election and all sorts of Congressional types will be puckered up not wanting to offend anyone with a bold move or a hard vote. And if the usual pattern holds of the opposition party making gains in the midterm, Dems have a lot of ground work to be doing district by district and for Senate seats or we will be in a real bad place. Not as bad as if Trump were Prez, but still not progress that will lead to assurance of a Dem win in 2024.
