Well I almost had a vaccine appointment this morning

I’m 1B.

I go through the CVS and Walgreens apps regularly - Fully booked - No Appointments Available usually

This morning just before 9AM 💥 BAM 💥 appointments available at Walgreens. I set the first one for Thursday. There were all kinds available at several locations (not the rich parts of town by the way) all day. I tried to set the second shot and the page froze AND the contractors coming by to do some work rang the doorbell. I was never able to get the app to work. I hit the Back button and *POOF* that location was gone. I tried later and everything was booked.

Damn.

I,don’t know if we got a bunch of doses here or if Walgreens reset is on Tuesday mornings or.... who knows.

I’ll keep trying.

Our MA sight crashed the first day of sign ups for phase 2. Nothing, absolutely no appointments available. Today I tried a few dozen times, it showed available appointments and in seconds they were gone. Funny that the same 2 appointment dates kept coming up over twelve hours and weren't available. Just another glitch. Thank you Charlie Baker, NOT!

I know people who have had luck by being on more than one device/computer as they were trying to book. (The problem was the site freezing.)

In NYS, if you get the first shot, you are automatically prioritized for the second shot and either given an appointment when you get the first shot or contacted with time options for your second dose.

They might let you think you have something, they'll make you go through the motions.
But guess what - they don't actually have any vaccine yet, so it's all for nothing.
They pull the rug out every single time.

My 90 year old mom has had two appointments cancelled and her health care provider rebooked her for March 4.

In the meantime, there was a post on NextDoor saying vaccinations were available at HyVee, a Midwest grocery chain. I went to the HV site and made an appointment for her at a suburban HV for noon on Friday. She’s beyond thrilled!

I was a man possessed, checking everywhere that has the vaccine within a 50-mile radius, several times a day. I finally snagged an appointment at a Rite Aid pharmacy about a mile from home. It takes perseverance and patience.

The day before she got a call that they needed to cancel because they did not have anymore. They told her Washington state is supposed to get another shipment this week but the place she is getting her shot at said they do not know when they will get them. When she does get the call she needs to go immediately. She is lucky she has me to take her or she would have to take the bus and it might not be there by the time she gets there. I think it is odd that it has gone to first come first serve from get an appointment when it comes in.

The Walgreens website is messed up as it shouldn't be asking you to schedule a second appointment. I've called locally and corporate about this and they admit it's a glitch, telling me the second appointment is supposed to be made when you get the first shot, not beforehand. I've yet to get a reasonable explanation about why the website does this and whether other people are getting appointments. Still I try because I know people who have gotten the appointments.

I talked to a friend in southern NJ and she was horrified that I hadn't snatched an appointment in TN (managed to get one last night). They've had mass vaccination spots open in her area with one of the major hospitals acting as an appointment hub. She and her circle of friends have all received their first shots and will be taking their second before I receive my first.

I gave up on my county Board of Health (been on a waiting list all month) and tapped the state listings. I was quickly directed to a next-door county health clinic 20 minutes away.

Her final comment? You need to move back home.

I agree.

They appear to have dumped a bunch in NYS at 1pm today and I just happen to check at the right time. I did have to schedule the second shot but that wasn't a problem this time.
