Tanden. Help please, on issues.
All I am hearing here are her mean tweets. And that is pure silliness to me along with wagging fingers and scolds from men. But, I also hear there are other reasons to not want her. Twitter was all over me, but mostly Sanders people and I am so done arguing with them. I have done a bit of research but conversation will make it easier.
Why does Biden really want Neera Tanden? And is it just a divide with Sanders supporters/Republicans and the Democratic base? I know she went after Manchin daughter with epi pen increase, I remember that one. What I have heard that makes her not a good candidate, though the people arguing use much more harsh ugly language for the woman, like vile, evil, wh**e. That tends to make me fight for a woman even harder. I have heard from people on twitter: Against ss. (I figure this is like Sanders supporters going after Biden during the primary which was bogus) Outed sexually harassed woman in corporate meeting. (I heard it was accident, Sanders supporters said she purposely and repeatedly). Something about Lybia and wanting to murder lots of people. Can you all help me out your opinion of what makes her strong or a weak candidate? What I have read about her "mean" tweets is crap. Thanks.

1. The very people who are carrying on
About Neera’s awful, terrible tweets, etc. at present the same ones who stood aside and let Trump abuse half the Country. They are hypocrites to the Nth degree! And cable news is making it worse. Neera is a brilliant strategist. That is why the simple minded hate her! Shades of Hillary Clinton!

2. I believe there is more along the lines
of being in favor of cutting SS and Medicare...
"Tanden explained her views in a February 2012 C-SPAN interview. Asked by a caller about entitlement reform, she named Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid as targets for possible cuts, noting that “the president has $300 million in his budget in cuts in Medicare.” “That comes on top of cuts in Medicare for the Affordable Care Act. So he has put specific cuts in the budget in Medicare,” she said. “And they had savings in Medicaid in the past. I think the question really is: If we’re going to have a deal to address long-term deficit reduction, we need to put both entitlements on the table as well as taxes.” Tanden became more explicit in her support for cuts to Social Security as she went on: “We should have savings on entitlements, and the Center for American Progress has put forward ideas on proposals to reform the beneficiary structure of Social Security — some of our progressive allies aren’t as excited about that as we are,” she explained. “But we’ve put those ideas on the table. We think that those are legitimate ideas that need to be part of a proposal where everyone’s at the table. We don’t just ask middle-class Americans to sacrifice. We ask all Americans.” [link:https://www.dailyposter.com/p/biden-picks-budget-director-who-pushed| |

4. The Medicare cuts are very similar to those that Medicare for all would envision
that is paying providers less for the services they provide. The only way Medicare for All saves money, and the way universal systems save money in other places, is by using their superior negotiating power to negotiate better rates to providers.

6. Have you heard anything she has said of late with the issue? Wasn't this in line with Obama
and doesn't that go along the lines of attack toward Biden during the primary?

9. yes-- she's a mainstream Dem. The Bernie left hates her though and distorts what she says
because she wasn't a supporter of Medicare for all.

10. It took me a day to digest and process the absolute assault on twitter then realized this was
all about 2016 and the absurdity of different standards for a woman and an old privileged white man.

5. Wasn't this along the line of Obama and that was back in 2012. The conversation is different today.
Have you heard if she holds to what she said in 2012? Thanks for the info.

7. This morning, I have been unable to find
any statements or news in the past 2 years regarding these views.
So if she has revised those opinions I was not able to find documentation. |

8. You would think if this is a deal, there would have been conversation about it. Instead all we hear
are her meqan tweets. Thanks for checking, sorry you put the time into it, but I appreciate it.

14. Wait...what? Isn't that the fallacy of negative proof?
A person close to Tanden said that she made those remarks about Social Security when President Barack Obama was doing much of the same and is now in close alignment with Biden, who has advocated for expanding the program.
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/30/bernie-supporters-seethes-neera-tanden-441603 When all roads lead back to the dubious Walter Bragman (who slurs Joe Biden in the same hit piece you link to), and the only thing the hapless Walter has in his bag tricks of consists of decontextualized information from 2012, I don't think the problem is with Neera Tandan. ![]() |
