The fact is this rule means there will never, not ever, never, ever, ever be a LGBT civil rights bill. It means there will never, not ever, not ever, ever, ever, ever be an increase in the minimum wage ever again. It means we will never, not ever, ever, ever, see a voting rights bill, meaning that in a majority of states Black voters will be all but banned from voting. But merits of blocked bills aside it literally makes democracy impossible. Since the majority, not matter how many more votes it might have gotten (in our case 5.5 million more in the House, 7 million more for the Presidency, and 25 million more over three elections for the Senate) never gets any of its policies enacted. We can't so much as name a post office without one fifth of the GOP Senate caucus' permission. Worse, we can't even get a vote on so much as naming a post office without their permission. Just how can democracy work when the majority can never get what they vote for no matter how many times they may vote for it, nor how big that majority may be? Honestly I would prefer us to just end this rule, that is clearly not going to happen. So we should just say we are going to put in reconciliation what we want.
