McCarthy: 'I would bet my house' GOP takes back lower chamber in 2022

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said that he would “bet my house” that Republicans win the back majority in the House in 2022.

During an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), McCarthy was asked by American Conservative Union Chair Matt Schlapp about what the minority leader thought the likelihood is of Republicans taking back the lower chamber in the next midterm cycle.

“We’re going to get the majority back. We’re five seats away,” McCarthy exclaimed. “I would bet my house” on it, he continued.

Democrats won back control of the House in the so-called "blue wave" in the 2018 midterms, and won the House, Senate and White House in the 2020 elections.

However, Republicans exceeded expectations in the last election cycle when they were projected to lose 15 members, flipping several seats in the House and winning seats eyed by Democrats in the Senate.

I get that the President's party always has a tough time in the first midterm, but the GOP has an ace in the hole that makes it close to a sure thing.

Mid-term elections quite often go to the party opposite that of the President. It took the horror of Trump being in office for Democrats to finally turn out in numbers during the midterms in 2018. With Biden as President in 2022, I'm very worried too many Democrats will fall back into the bad habit of ignoring the midterms.

Consider that during a presidential election this past year, when turnout is highest, Biden won, but we lost seats in the House. The most likely reason for that isn't ticket-splitters, but people who voted for Biden not even bothering to vote for anyone for Congress. Meanwhile Trump voters were more motivated to vote not just for Trump, but vote Republican down-ticket too.

I presume, because not one of them in the House voted to help Americans climb out of this COVID hellscape despite ~60% of Republicans approving of the plan.

Maybe Kevvie can get a taste of the good life in a homeless shelter.

Republican Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick still has not paid Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman the money he owes him.
But of course texass has their hand out for some socialist bail out money. Money the people need because repukes have destroyed the state.

Especially since the minimum wage part of the bill was still intact. Throw in some footage of the Trump mafia beating Capitol police and Kevin McCarthy is packing up the old homestead.
