Republican Dilemma

The puglican establishment would probably like Newt and Santorum and Perry to drop out. They can't win. They can only harrass the eventual nominee.

But what if they DID drop out? Then every state would be Romney versus Paul and Paul would draw his own support plus a mix of crazies curently supporting other candidates. In states where Paul should only pull 8% he'd be pulling 20%. Could he even win a state in a two man race... montana or idaho or something?

Would Romney debate Paul head to head? Is that safe?

What are the implications of Paul as half the face of the Republican party for months? Of Paul having a pretty big block of delegates?

Paul's delegates will be genuine crazy people. Don't rule out chair throwing. They really might turn the convention into a circus if Paul doesn't get a major prime-time speech.

Is that safe?

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Safest for the pugs might be a Romney-Santorum-Paul race. (Keeping a safe non-Paul outlet for anti-Romney votes. Santorum is pretty safe in ways newt is not.) A two man race can get messy. A five man race can get messy.

Paul has massive and genuine grassroots support that only grows every time he says some great truth that no one else is saying

Romney would be dead to rights in a 1x1 against Paul.

And Obama just may very well be too.

This country is sick of wars... wars in the Middle East, war on drugs, war on terror. This country is sick of the police state and its iron grip. If Paul is the only option to put an end to that madness a lot of people will go for it.

Ron Paul has promised a FULL PARDON of all drug crimes the moment he gets into office. Obama has had three years to do that and obviously is not going to.

What do I tell my friends who are in prison right now? That I'm going to vote to keep them in jail?

Do I tell my friends in school that I'm going to vote to send them to war with Iran?

See the problem that Ron Paul poses? He is THE most dangerous possible opponent because these views of his are massive game changers.

and the same goes for a Ron Paul race against Obama. Suggestions to the contrary are not reality based.
