The Otezla ads that loop on CNN relentlessly are a nuisance.
Why warn people not to take it if they are allergic to it? There's an obvious paradox there. Presumably their attorneys saw fit to build that escape hatch in there.
You can't sue us because of your severe allergic reaction, we had a warning about that!
The Republicans could use a similarly worded paradoxical disclaimer: Don't vote for any politicians who are going to break all their campaign promises! See now it's your fault.

(42,862 posts)People with allergies are likely to know which types of things they're allergic to, and I think it would be reasonable expect that the manufacturer (or prescribing physician) would be able to apply known allergies a patient has and extrapolate whether or not they might be at risk of having an allergic reaction.

(46,915 posts)We have both taken all the allergy testing down to the DNA level testing.
But we cannot always predict meds.
We have found out the hard way most docs have no idea about allergies.

(25,462 posts)If they're allergic to a similar drug or a drug in the same category, they may be allergic to this one.
For example, if one is allergic to sulfa antibiotics because of a reaction to one of them, they would know that they're likely allergic to the rest without ever taking them.

She looks like she has a really nice life. I do wonder if that dude would let her drive if Otezla gives her suicidal thoughts.

Has to be annoying for most of them.

(35,325 posts)You need a f----g prescription it is up to a doctor to order it. Then they tell you to tell your doctor if you are allergic, have high blood pressure or diabetes for certain drugs. Shouldn't the doctor be telling you that instead of you telling the doctor? Then there are the ED and bent penis drugs.
The whole point of prescriptions is that the doctor determines if the benefits outweigh the risks. This is based on all that education and experience and stuff. The ads don't provide them any assistance.
No, the soundbites on the ads probably have more to do with CYA.

Worse yet are the CarSheid ads "they gave me a new motor and a new transmission". "Who does that? "Nobody does buddy!
They have a CarSheild bus doing rallies and people holding signs up for f---g CarShield give me a break.
